Gary Anderson's verdict:

After the team dropped the ball at the final round in Abu Dhabi last season, the Italian media and indeed the Italian population are going to accept nothing less than Ferrari winning the drivers' and constructors' world championships in 2011. If not, there will be heads on the chopping block.

Well so too will be McLaren and Mercedes on the chopping block if they don't preform.

But, as we all know, F1 is not a one man band - it is about a team of three to six hundred people all working together as one unit, and that so often is where Ferrari seems to trip up.

Ferrari seems to trip up on Team work? Can someone please remind this Anderson the Schumey era from 96 to 2006, and then again 2007 and 2008. If Alonso won it last year, this Anderson would be praising Ferrari's team work.

By saying that I am not being critical of the team's efforts, but if you look at the front wing for example – the most important aerodynamic component on a current F1 car – it is more-or-less the same as the 2010 version. Perhaps this will appear in the weeks of pre-season testing...

The front wing is the same as last year? Yes it is. Just as it's been for the last ten years when Ferrari have revealed a new car.

But I believe Ferrari has a lot of development to do if it is to make its fans happy by the end of 2011.

His point is that Italy is so Ferrari, Ferrari, Ferrari. British press is obviously biased but away from Grand Prix weekend there's very little mention of Formula One. I hear Gazzetto del Sport or whatever its called has a bit about Ferrari everyday. At Monza its probably 95% Ferrari fans. At Silverstone it'll be 95% Button & Hamilton fans. Brits don't tend to support a team passionately like Italy supports Ferrari.

I think this has only become a focus point since two stupid Italian politicians (Teste di Cat*o) attacked Ferrari publically cause typically they didn't have anything else to say.
Otherwise it would have been the same like when they lost a title.

But my main points are also about his technical observations.

Well yeah, I don't think you can draw any conclusions until the cars have done running. They won't be the final Bahrain spec cars but I remember last winter, everyone looked at Ferrari, saw the times and thought 'that car is good' and Pat Symonds trackside watched them and said 'Sauber isn't that great, Red Bull looks like the best" and he was right.

Remember guys, all the cars will change drastically both visually and mechanically even before the first test. Plus, we haven't seen any of the other challengers yet. I'll admit I'm not all that thrilled with the way the F150 looks right now, but it's still very very early.

(Fingers crossed for a nice McLaren though)

F1 cars look so terrible these days.

I'd take an Aston Martin DB9, Gallardo Superleggera or Jaguar XKR any day over a modern F1 car.

Street cars get nicer and nicer while F1 cars get worse and worse in terms of appearance.

What i am most surprised about is the nose. after 2009 the Red bull style sculpted nose was the way to go and was even evident on the F10. But this year the 2011 contender for Ferrari is more of a flat and straight nose. Interesting

Also the rear and front wings are similar to the F10.

Why is it only Ferrari who seems to be able to get away with these "photo sessions?"
I could understand if they just had the car trundling about at about 40 mph, but they had the thing maxed out in 7th gear. You're going to tell me that they weren't getting some data off of that thing? A testing ban is a testing ban, no?

i agree, and i thought the FIA had done something about preventing such things from happening
