WRC / EXCLUSIVE: Funds Russians behind Saab's entry?
Written by C. Pilia Monday, November 1, 2010 17:42
After the first concrete rumors about the possible debut in an official from Volkswagen, as well as an opening to private schemes under the brand Skoda, peep these days also new rumors about the involvement of the Saab brand. Unlike Toyota, which still does not seem to have good contacts at all convinced the leaders of the House of Japan, Spyker in house (new owner of the Swedish brand) but there is great optimism.
Rumor collected by Rally Emotion, after several interviews, the Swedish House would be on the verge of returning to full-time in the series as early as 2012 World Championships, using a model to be chosen between 9-1 and 9-2 and using the engine GRE (Global Race Engine, available for the WTCC), BMW Motorsport, which is being developed for the Mini Countryman WRC. But who's behind it?
Behind this strong interest, always refer to our sources, there would be major sponsor of the Russians prepared to invest heavily in the new series of the rainbow, thanks to considerable cost containment and by the growth of media interest to the specialty. In the coming weeks you will have a clearer picture of the negotiations, as there may be new to the World Cup 2011 on the participation of young Russian Evgeny Novikov ...

Re: Rally News
thanx for all the informations, specially the spanisch one... sounds that Sordo will not drive for atleast Citroen next year. Nice that mini has given him an offer and that Ford is planning on it. Seems that most of you want him in Ford. But have to say that im a little sceptical about them they have too many drivers to take care off next year if they still planning for 10 cars and storbart guys dont even get to test anything so they are always rusty in the competitions... Please Dani shoose mini, its more risky but ...
Is it just me who thinks its funny that the rallydrivers are so opend about their negotiations?!

Re: Rally News
I also think that it would be hard for Dani in Frod cuz I don't think that he'll be faster Mikko or Jari-Matti on gravel. But Mini also isn't great choice.Julia wrote:Seems that most of you want him in Ford. So for 2011 it'll be hard choice anyway.
According to the last info Ford will have also 5 new cars by start of the season.
Re: Rally News
Yes, I have to admit that I want Dani in Ford for entirely selfish reasons because Ford need a tarmac specialist if they want to go up against the Citroens but that's all Ford really need him for.Julia wrote:thanx for all the informations, specially the spanisch one... sounds that Sordo will not drive for atleast Citroen next year. The best career move in my opinion would be with Mini because it's not a commercial offer and I don't think he would be forced to be a number two driver to Kris Meeke like he was to Loeb. But it didn't sound like he was actually wanted to drive for Mini in the interview. It seemed like Ford was his first choice if he was going to pay to drive.

I think they were mostly talking about the IRC and Guy Wilks. I was hoping someone here would have emailed/tweeted them a question about Dani.

It seems like Dani will need to look for a sponsor if he wants to drive for Ford and he'll try to contact one this week (i.e. Santander). I think he also says that he'll know this week or next week where he will drive next year?
I think he's also saying that he's discarding the Mini option because he thinks they are only doing to do 6 rallies.

Re: Rally News
which is a right thing to do. Dani needs to fight with the top boys in all the rallies. Waiting and developing a year with mini could jeopardize his career further more. I mean there is more risk in the mini option but if it works well for 2012 and the car is good sordo can write a new history but frankly speaking its too huge a risk.sleenster wrote:http://www.eldiariomontanes.es/v/201011 ... 01104.html

So better opt for ford. I say zero it on Ford as they seemed to be a big time due for a title. If not driver then being a part of manufacture's title could also bode well for Sordo's future.

Re: Rally News
hmmm.. mini doesnt sound as a good shoise if they only can guaranties 6 rallies... thats quite different to what they are saying in public... but there are many ifs and buts in he ford thing also... Santander is already Danis big sponsor so is it so that Santander money isnt enough for a full time seat? sad about novikov!
it has been very quiet about peter since last rally...

Re: Rally News
But long term Dani needs to be in a team where he could grab a good manufacture seat (in a main team) in the future... his only change to grab a seat in ford is if he suddenly gets faster than mikko on gravel... or is he maybe looking for a seat in possible other new team? But dont they all come whit a first non-competitive first year? or back to citroen main team ??luieluv wrote:which is a right thing to do. Dani needs to fight with the top boys in all the rallies.
