Taku's penalty
Taku's penalty
Takuma Sato, the Japanese Super Aguri Formula One Team, claims he did not overtake under yellow flags during the United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis. Sato, who retired the race, received a penalty from the stewards and will drop 10 places on the grid of the French GP. Sato claims that he didn't overtake under yellow flag, but that Jenson Button was the one that was in the wrong.

So. Sato has been handed a 10 grid penalty for overtaking under yellow flags. Assuming that he really did so ( as opposite to what he said), do you think that this is fair on him?

tough one because i think if he did break the rules then yeah he should have a penalty... the fact that a penalty is passed onto the next round is a bit unfair i think, for an offence like this one i dont think it should be carried over.
hamiltonF1 has an interesting point though... he retired, without serving a penalty!

I promise this will be a non biased post (Honest)
If he did overtake under yellows he probably would have got a Drive Through - 10 second penalty but he spun out so they need to do something about it for the next race (Fastest Time deleted or a grid place penalty)
But that is If he did overtake uner yellows like the FIA said.

Did you noticed, that it was same spot where Fisichella spunned and dropped to last? Maybe there were something in the track around that spot...HamiltonF1 wrote:He broke the rules and that he spins that is his fault, its not that if you retire the punishment just goes away and I think 10 places back is the right punishment.
Well the stewards know what they're doing hopefully so we have to trust that they're doing their job, however I don't think it's really fair to carry on the punnishment to the next race...maybe they should have made their minds up quicker...look at the Montreal race...how long did it take to disqualify Felipe and Giancarlo...can't they do their job a bit quicker...if they did something wrong then punish within 5 laps them not 20 laps later  how much time do they need to look at the telemetry and footage to decide if a rule has been broken

Its the rules, if found to be broken its the right decision... I still disagree with last week and the black flags for Massa and Fisico, why going into pitt when the pitts are closed only get a 10 second penalty when leaving gets black flagged... The rules need someone to read through them and have a serious re-think...

Wait a minute, I remember that Jenson Button tried to overtake Sato at first corner but he braked and let Sato back in front of him, at that time there was yellow flags, it was at second lap. So race marshalls maked mistake then... Because that was two laps before Sato losted control of his car, and that yellow flag situation ended right after Sato and Button gotted past that spot. (They were clearing R. Schu's car away from that first corner)
