Mikael Silvestre??? The guy has the pace of a North Sea ferry and is older than the Great Wall of China. I'd love to be facing him in the Champions League. Bremen are supposedly very inconsistent, and score lots of goals. And concede a lot as well. We're the same really, should be two good games.

Re: 2010-11 UEFA Champions League
Twenty have lost there trainer and some important players, and got less players back for it. Don't be afraid of them. They'll be on 0 points after 6 matches, believe me. And Werder is pretty weak without Özil. I love Marko Marin though.swca92 wrote:I saw the highlights of Bremen being hammered 4-1 by Hoffenheim and losing to Sampdoria the other night, we can get ahead of them in the group. Twente hopefully without McClaren aren't much cop. Against Inter Milan we'll be underdogs, we'll enjoy the experience and if we get any points its a bonus.

Pakistan cricketers face treason charges, death penalty over match-fixing allegations
The acts of the Pakistani players involved is utterly disgraceful, and they should be banned for life, and fined millions, and maybe even a small prison sentence (anything up to 3-5 years is fair IMO), but surely that's a bit extreme (charges of treason and possible death penalty)!?LAHORE: A Pakistan court on Tuesday summoned seven national cricket players, the country's sports minister and its cricket chief to face treason charges over fixing allegations in England.
The chief justice of the High Court in the eastern city of Lahore said those under investigation in England, plus sports minister Ijaz Jakharani and Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ejaz Butt must appear on September 7.
Local lawyer Ishtiaq Ahmed filed the treason case on Monday, calling for life bans and confiscation of all the players' assets if they are found guilty. The charge carries a maximum death penalty.
The cricketers are alleged to have been paid to bowl no-b*** at pre-determined times in a spot-fixing scam in the fourth Test against England, which Pakistan lost by an innings on Sunday.
Usually in Pakistan, court procedures are long and decisions takes years while a legal expert said if the accused fail to appear three times in a row a ruling could be made in absentia.
"The case is based only on allegations. We do not expect a hurried decision," Azhar Siddique, a local lawyer said.
The seven national team players include Test team captain Salman Butt, Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Aamer, plus three unnamed players, who are all accused in the sting by British Sunday tabloid the News of the World.
Police have bailed a bookmaker, Mazhar Majeed, who is alleged to be the middleman in the scam.
Re: Cricket
A life ban is more than enough, the don't deserve any worse than that. The stigma of being match-fixers is a punishment they'll endure for the rest of their lives, and there's no point fining them when the whole point of this is that the players were paid a pittance and needed the money. That article does exaggerate, the death penalty is the maximum sentence and obviously won't be used, but to be tried in court for treason is very serious and very worrying.

Spurs have just signed Rafael van de Vaart for £8m - Is he any good??? The comments from most people are that he's a great signing and his wife is worth the transfer fee alone.
