Villeneuve could have been champion in 1979?

Post by Flavio_F1 » 14 May 2007, 20:44

I´ve heard the story - Gilles could have been champion in 79, but the Ferrari team wanted and planned it to be for Jody Scheckter, also saying the Gilles would have another chance soon...

One of the greatest losses in motor sport history. Gilles will remain the best driver who ever touched an F1 car.

He is considered the unofficial champion of 79. He could have beat Scheckter but he honoured team orders. And we know what happened later with Pironi.

The guy was special but best to ever touch an F1 car... wow there's a stretch!
He had only two poles his entire career and retired almost 50% of the time... ok he had six wins but seriously, you don't win races if you don't finish them.

Have you seen Gilles Villeneuve´s fatal crash video?? It is shocking, his seat belt got broken and he flyed out of the car. I am really sorry for him but I think he could be World Champion. At least, his son was World Champion. Do you beleive in genetic?

Jaques was never as good as gilles, end of story!

Gilles was very brave, it was as if he had no fear of death which brought upon the fatal crash.

yes he should have been world champion in 79 but i think he would have been in the year he died. he is defaintly one of the best drivers to never have won the championship!
Thankyou Schumi you will always have a place in our hearts!
Michael Schumacher- 7 volte Campione del mondo!
SIMPLY THE BEST
