The 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans will be the 78th Grand Prix of Endurance, taking place on June 12-13, 2010 at the Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, France, and organised by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest.

The 78th running of the greatest endurance race in the world will take place on the big 13,629-km circuit, which also uses part of the Bugatti layout (built in 1966), and a section of the main Le Mans-Tours road closed to traffic for the event.

On this layout, the record for the greatest distance covered in the race is held by David Brabham, Marc Gené and Alexander Wurz, the 2009 winners; they covered 382 laps, a distance of 5.206,278 kms at an average speed of 216,664 km/h. 2010 will be the last year for the current LM P prototypes and grand touring cars (LM GT), as a new set of technical regulations will come into force in 2011.

Wooo Le Mans ! :D

Mansell plans to join Le Mans 24 Hours
Spoiler:
04 January 2010

Having taken part in the Le Mans Series with son Greg last year, 1992 World Champion Nigel Mansell is now looking to race in this year's prestigious Le Mans 24 Hour event after purchasing a share of the Beechdean Motorsport sports car team.

With Beechdean Mansell Motorsport now established, the outfit will join the LMP1 class in 2010 with a Ginetta-Zytek Z09R, with an appearance at Le Mans now on the cards; Greg will be joined by brother Leo throughout the season, with father Nigel set to join at certain races.

"I'm very happy to announce this partnership between myself and Beechdean," said Mansell Senior, who won the Formula 1 title with Williams in 1992. "The team comes fresh to the Le Mans Series with an impeccable pedigree and full support from Zytek.

"I'm very excited about 2010 and the prospect of racing with both of my sons for the first time. I can confirm that I will be racing with Leo and Greg during the season and, if we receive an entry, we will also be racing at Le Mans.

"We begin testing early in the New Year and 2010 promises to be an exciting and dynamic year - we can't wait to get started!"

My boss talked about going to Le Mans yesterday. He said I must think about it carefully, because we will be there 1 week. So the chance is very big now for me to go to the 24 hour race :)
