Congrats to Jari-Matti! Well deserved win! I feel gutted for Ogier and for Petter though.

Ogier, Loeb, Solberg's crashes, Latvala celebrating and the podium ceremony:

Solberg's crash was absolutely heartbreaking. :(

New Zealand is better land for Finns than Germany :

This was interesting race, good that Ford won. Still it's hard to believe that some other driver than Loeb could be champion. Maybe Ogier could win this year at least on race, he has lots of potential.

Interesting that Latvala didn't won any stage but won the race. Last time that is happened to Colin McRae in Safari 1999.

Just listened to the finishing stage on Rally Radio. Apparently this was the most exciting rally in ages even for them. How nice to have slept through it all :(. What's nice is that this rally showed that it's not just about Kimi anymore for me, I was really interested to see what happens in this rally :). Well, not interested enough to stay up all night but I wouldn't have been able to do that this weekend even if Kimi had been driving.

Well, if you go and check who leads in the stage win category you would be surprised. There is no Loeb either. Key word is consistency and error free rallies, thats how Loeb has won his championships. Now he really showed he can drive really really fast but in the end, he did make that error which took his certain win. Latvala is now taking the big step I was talking about earlier. But I am sure his team boss will wait a lot more further if Latvala is going to keep this road to the end.
It a shame Ogier didnt win this one. I felt he got the change to go New Zealand to win. :(

Funny man!!!

Btw, I'm left handed too. My experience is the same, it's a bad feeling if a left handed person feels that he or she has 2 right hands. LOL

Saif, thanks for all the information :shhh:

SOLBERG'S FEELINGS AFTER DRIVING OUT: GRÖNHOLM-MOMENT

Image

Solberg told in Norways' TV2 interview that he gave 111 % of himself.

- If I would have stayed at 110 % everything would have been fine but there was one % too much, Solberg described.

Solberg lost control of his Citroën at 140 km/h.

- When we drove that stage for the first time I used the 5th gear in that specific corner where I drove out. Yet I started calculating before the start that I could go with the 6th gear into the corner too.

- In split times I was all of a sudden 5,5 seconds ahead of Latvala and 4,0 seconds ahead of Ogier who was leading the rally. With that pace I could have caught them. I understood that I was fighting for the victory. I had decided to give everything I had before the stage and now I was completely sure about it..

He was proud that he kept his foot on the pedal in the corner to the end.

- I gave my everything and a bit more. It was a Marcus Grönholm -moment, Solberg joked.

He referred to the fact that back in the years we saw several similar attacks from Grönholm.

- I knew it was possible that we would go out and I was prepared for it. I was fighting for the first victory since 5 years, Solberg reminded.

- Ogier, Latvala and Loeb came afterwards to tell me that had I finished the stage I would have won.

^^^Thanks for this great article, Nicole! I think after reading this I like this man even more. It was maybe a Marcus Grönholm-move but reminded of a certain Finnish racing driver called Kimi Räikkönen too. Fight for the win or nothing! He would've done the same as he has done so several times in his racing career. That's one of the reasons why I admire him! :shhh:
