Morning all
Rule change to clamp down on tactics

14th April 2010
By Giles Wade
Teams won’t be able to influence the running order on Rally of Turkey by instructing their drivers to check in early at stage starts.

Subject to approval by the event stewards, a bulletin will be issued to competitors prior to the start of the world championship qualifier tomorrow, which will prevent drivers from starting a stage ahead of schedule.

The revision, which has been approved by the teams via a faxed vote, follows the farcical scenes on the Jordan Rally earlier this month when Sebastien Ogier and Mikko Hirvonen were ordered by their Citroen and Ford teams respectively to check in early on Saturday’s opening stages to run ahead of their team-mates to clear the road of loose surface gravel.

Under the changes, drivers arriving early will now be held at the stage entrance to await their allotted start time if they arrive early at a stage start.

Ford team boss Malcolm Wilson has described planned changes to road position order rules in the WRC as a “step in the right direction”.

“More needs to be done but this is a step in the right direction and I don’t see any reason why anyone would disagree with it,” said Wilson. “Now we’ve got to make a conscious effort to find something that’s going to tick all the boxes. What happened in Jordan was the straw that broke the camel’s back.”

Kimi's doing fine, on a level of Latvala and Villagra, better than Wilson and Block. :)

From Solberg's blog:

"Shakedown day in Turkey. All mechanics are up at remote service, Lorraine and Gerry is out shopping. Just Cardy and me here at the servicepark in Pendik. Oh, almost forgot the team manager, he is here too, supervising the radio and doing logistics for the upcoming rallies."
So its gonna be a mix of Ravishing Black and White for Kimi Raikkonen this season

Oh man after this crappy week I am really looking forward for this rally :shhh:
Raikkonen has received advice from his countryman Anton Alen, the son of former WRC legend Markku, ahead of Rally of Turkey. Alen came close to winning the FIAT Rally, which used a similar route to Turkey’s new WRC qualifier, back in 2007.
Kimi Kimi gimme just a little smile :)

After 4 runs on todays Shakedown in Turkey, Petter Solberg were happy with the setup for the rally car. He ended with the 5th fastest time. Sebastien Loeb set the fastest time. Shakedown is the final test before the rally starts.

- This is going to be a hard and challenging rally. Stages are fast, but rocks and sand makes them difficult. I guess we will see some punctures here, especially on Saturday’s stages. The car worked perfect at Shakedown today, and I’m looking forward to finally start tomorrow, says Petter Solberg.

The Shakedown test took place at a 4,75km closed road, 28kms from Pendik servicepark.

Shakedown times;
Loeb, Citroën 2.30,8
Sordo, Citroën 2.31,1
Hirvonen, Ford 2.31,7
Henning, Ford 2.32,2
Petter, Citroën 2.32,5
Ogier, Citroën 2.32,5
Räikkönen, Citroën 2.33,1 :shhh: :C: !yahoo:
Latvala, Ford 2.33,1
Villagra, Ford 2.33,7
Wilson, Ford 2.35,2
