2010 Winter Testing

McLaren trying a new traffic light system
Re: 2010 Winter Testing
Buemi has just been doing an 50 lap-long stint and he's consistent in 1m26s.
Remember, Spanish GP is 66 lap-long.

Re: 2010 Winter Testing
I think a pattern just emerges as to how the races will fold.
Buemi has just done a GP simulation pitted on his 21st lap of his 63rd run, effectively a race distance.
Massa has just finished his 40th lap-long stint and made a tyre change and continue. Most probably, he will make 20 lap-stint on softer tyres.
Whereas
Button has been doing 20 lap-long stints which could mean 2 pit-stop strategy or just tyre evaluation.
By the way, an interesting note, when Button pitted for new tyres after his 20-ish lap long stint, he just started to lap in low 1m24s while Massa -after his 40-ish lap-long stint- has been lapping in low 1m22s, indicating that Massa was on softer, Button was on harder tyres.
Interesting.

I think Ferrari will be at the front in quali too. Sauber are 3/10ths off, it looks like.

James, while across the internet the McLaren fanbase is in meltdown you seem to be uber confident about the MP4-25’s chances! Why so?

Not really, I was observing that the long run was slow yesterday. I don’t think they are in trouble, but I also don’t think they are as quick all round as Ferrari

Re: 2010 Winter Testing
Jarno Trulli believes the pace shown by Lotus in his last day of testing will be much the same at the first race of 2010 at Bahrain in two weeks’ time
What we’ve seen here, no more. We’ll probably be four seconds off.
Re: 2010 Winter Testing
There will be 3 or 4 in-race competition this year. One is being the four-horse WDC race, which includes usual suspects.
And then there are Sauber, Renault and Williams fighting each other out.
Then Force India and Toro Rosso should form a group, though I expect both of them will be included in the mix of first or second group on different circuits. Especially FI.
And finally our newbies: Lotus and Virgin. I expect Lotus will come out on top as Virgin's lack of wind tunnel development will hinder their progression through the season.
