So they've made the points system a joke and made pitstops mandatory which ruins the new tyre rules??? F1 really is frustrating me, these gimmicks are putting me off F1. Seriously.

Yeah, stick with the 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1. Much easier to understand

I don't mind a bit of change. They can always go back to the former point system after a season or two if it doesn't prove successful.

This one seems like it would basically have killed off the 2009 season early, but it could be interesting if we end up with several title contenders fighting at the front (which is likely for 2010). I also like the idea of giving the midfield teams something to fight for.

Incidentally, that might also compell Bernie to finally shut up about his medals, and keep his other silly ideas to himself.

Glad they didn't implement that compulsory two-pit-stop rule. Heavens.

or if they really want to award points up to tenth, then:

10-6-5-4-3-2-1-.75-.50-.25

no need go up past 10.......unfair to the all-time points leader holder :(

Why not just 12-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 if they want to give more to the winner.

Also, why does it have to be an even number of points scorers? I quite like the idea of 12-9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1.
No, I'm not calmer. Just more jaded.

I think they have to give more points for the backmarkers. 25, 20, 16, 13, 11, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. We have to respect their fights.

i believe 14 is too much.

but perhaps some prize (cash) for the best overtaking move, etc.., then it will aid in overtaking

In theory a good idea, but who will be the judge?

i would give 1pt for fastest lap like gp2, cuz i dont want that the championship gets decided in qualifaing, ex. some driver needs just 1pt to be champ, and he gets pole and is champion before the race even started, so stupid.. only for fastest lap i would give point and nothing else

I can see this quickly turning into a game of favouritism. :O

Agreed, as it would give those out of contention something to race for. Also interesting to note that in the 1950's a point was handed out for fastest lap.
