Correct, and the programmes involved F1 will be available on 'RTL Gemist' and I don't if that's free or not..phil1993 wrote:RTL signed a 3 year contract yesterdaybleeding eye wrote:There is still nobody in the netherlands who bought the f1 tv broadcasting rights. BBC Confirmed F1 is being filmd in HD this year
It is being filmed in HD, but its not being made available in HDF1Fanatic.oc.uk wrote:The BBC has confirmed F1 is being filmed in HD this year.
But Formula One Management is not making the high definition feed available to broadcasters.
Danielle Nagler, the BBC’s head of HD, wrote on her blog today:
The events are being filmed in HD (as far as we know) but they are not made available by F1 to broadcasters in HD.

Earlier this year Lee McKenzie from BBC’s F1 team said HD would be offered to F1 broadcasters in 2011. It may be that F~0~M wishes to get a year’s experience of filming in HD under its belt before committing to a live feed in high definition.
Hopefully they will release the HD footage shot this year in some form, either via their website or perhaps the end-of-season video review.
Meanwhile, NASCAR is being broadcast in HD for the sixth year in 2010.

Re: Formula One TV Coverage
Apart from the new driver graphic updates, F~0~M also added new feeds for during the sessions.
So in total there are now 4 livefeeds :
- Supersignal
- Highlights
- Onboard Mix
- Track Map & Timing Screen
Supersignal channel is broadcasting everything you normally see on television. The highlight channel broadcasts F~0~M highlights from practice, quali and race. Onboard Mix is the well known Onboard channel and the Track Map & Timing Screen looks like this :
Thanks to Krikke (tbk) for the image
Last one looks interesting ...

F1 is not being filmed or recorded in HD. The BBC is massivly wrong in this case.iceman1 wrote:BBC Confirmed F1 is being filmd in HD this yearIt is being filmed in HD, but its not being made available in HDF1Fanatic.oc.uk wrote:The BBC has confirmed F1 is being filmed in HD this year.
The cameras F~0~M are using were updated in 2006 in order to provide a 16:9 feed. They are able to provide HD as well, but even if they would the quality would be nowhere near the quality you'd expect from HD. The Grass Valley LDK 5000 camera is - let's say - good enough for a perfect 16:9 SD picture but not for any HD coverage.
F~0~M needs to update their equipment again before they are able to go for HD.
Re: Formula One TV Coverage
I'm complaining about the new graphics for this season-they give us far less information than last year. Without the order on the left half of the screen I didn't know the order and was shouting at the TV. F~0~M sort this out.

Re: Formula One TV Coverage
I am wondering if there's a book or online guide with information about the F1 coverage as it'd like to know more of it. I already have a book called 'Formula 1 Paddock' which has some information about the journalists and photographers, but the book is from 2003 and a lot of things have changed by now. Someone knows/has an interesting book/website ? Please give me link.

Does anyone know who broadcasts in Belgium. I'm going to Brussels for the weekend and don't want to miss the GP!
