GAME OVER !!
US F1 appear to be on the verge of giving up on their plans to compete in the 2010 F1 season.

Reports in the Argentinean media claim Peter Windsor told Jose Maria Lopez the team will not race in F1 this year.

There has been little news from the team for several weeks. It planned to test its car at Barber Motorsport Park this month but no details about the test have been forthcoming.

There are also doubts over high-profile backer Chad Hurley’s commitment to the project.

As recently as yesterday the team asserted it was still on-track to race in Bahrain.

Stefan are expected to announce their driver line-up shortly, with Kazuki Nakajima, Ralf Schumacher and Christian Klein among those believed to be under consideration. The team have even sent some equipment to Bahrain in preparation for a late entry.

i heard that Karun Chandhok has been signed (though it might be a rumour).
if it turns out to be true, then stefan GP will already be knowing that they will most probably finish with 0 points

Campos team saved - on course for Bahrain
The Campos Meta 1 team is set to make it to the grid this season after a restructuring, this week's AUTOSPORT magazine reveals.

Majority owner Jose Ramon Carabante is on the verge of taking full control of the team from founder Adrian Campos. The team has battled financial problems in recent months, but Spanish businessman Carabante is working on getting its Dallara-Cosworths onto the grid.

GP2 race winner Karun Chandhok - who has also been strongly linked with the Stefan GP team - and Formula Renault 3.5 champion Bertrand Baguette are understood to be in competition for the second seat alongside Bruno Senna.

Carabante has engaged ex-Force India team principal Colin Kolles and ex-Red Bull technical director Geoff Willis on a short-term basis.

A debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 14 is believed to be a realistic aim, although missing the early races is possible.

The team is unlikely to be ready in time for the final pre-season test at Barcelona on February 25-28, meaning that the cars will have time only for a brief shakedown before making their race debuts.

It is not clear whether either Kolles or Willis will have a long-term involvement in the team. Campos, who could retain a role, was unavailable for comment.

Autosport's Dieter Rencken raised an interesting point regarding Stefan GP: Whilst they have the equipment and probably the drivers, they do not have an entry (okay, so everyone knows this) - but Bridgestone will only supply tyres to those in the 2010 F1 Season and having consulted with Japan, will not supply them GP2 tyres either, therefore hindering Stefan's plans to test at Portimao from 25-28th Feb.

Quite sad. USA has a different tradition and approach for racing and I was expecting something interesting from them, but when they signed Lopez I really started to doubt about their mental health :p
