Everyone has quite radical diffusers, I have to say.
Mercedes and Ferrari in particular.
I think we can safely say that is why there were rumours of Ferrari working on a plan B of their car.
It's not about the speed, it's about the diffusers.
They might be doing a less radical version in case their actual one is found to be illegal (although I don't think FIA will say so after last year), so at least they'll have a backup.

But in terms of speed, Ferrari seem to be there at the top of the list (or surely near, the first day of testing is not too much indication to say which is the fastest car of all).
And Mercedes (no surprise), McLaren (no surprise) and Sauber (surprise) seem to be pretty much on the same pace.
Very interesting.

Yeah but at the end of the day, everybody wants to do a fairly quick lap, especially at the end.
Not the quickest, agreed, but fairly quick.
We don't know the levels yet, but there is a fair indication of what they might be.

Full fuel load is 5s faster than empty. Remember that MS was driving in the afternoon when the track is warmer.

The Renault was very heavy today.
f1.pl wrote: Kubica said he has never driven as heavy a car as he did today. He's quite positive after the first day. He says the car is quite easy do drive and on narrower tyres it has a tendency to understeer. He admitted that it seems they did a good job during the winter. He's not worried about laptimes as they had different priorities today. He's confident they will be competitive. Robert added his is happy with the atmosphere in the team. He concluded that he noticed a couple of positive aspects of R30 today.
