Mandarin is the language of China. A mandolin is a musical instrument, looks like a very small guitar, its the main instrument for the R.E.M track Losing my Religion.

Even if it happened, it couldn't happen by the end of the decade, considering how difficult a language Mandarin is and the fact that India is surpassing them population-wise. Also, Mandarin may be spoken by the most people, but English is spoken in the most places and the written system is far easier to learn. I think the only language that has a chance at beating out English as the international trade language is Spanish, which is very easy for anyone that knows a Romance language and for English speakers and is also spoken in a large number of countries.
