No way. Tung will be as good as Ide
Re: 2010 Season Discussions: Driver Line-ups, News and Misc
Ho Pless Tung would be a very poor choice. They should sign Heidfeld, Montagny, Klien, Baguette or even Vandenhove.

Mirko Bortolotti linked to Toro Rosso drive
Formula 2 driver Mirko Bortolotti has been linked to a race drive at Toro Rosso, adding to speculation that 2009 driver Jaime Alguersuari's position may not be secure.
Bortolotti tested for Toro Rosso along with Brendon Hartley at the young drivers' test in Jerez last month. While part of Red Bull's Junior Team last year, he is not yet listed in the energy drink company's driver development scheme for 2010, while others including Hartley and Daniel Ricciardo are.
Red Bull consultant Dr Helmut Marko admitted: "We do not yet know exactly what we are going to do with Bortolotti in 2010."
After winning the Italian F3 title in 2008 he was given a test with Ferrari and hit the headlines when he broke the lap record at Fiorano. Last year he finished fourth in the F2 championship, taking one win in the Czech Republic.

Renault set to replace Grosjean
Also, 66 days since Abu Dhabi, 66 days until Bahrain
http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/formula-1-new ... -grosjean/Romain Grosjean's future in Formula 1 is in doubt. The Frenchman, who replaced Nelson Piquet Jr. following the Brazilian's sudden departure after last year's Hungarian Grand Prix, is on the team's list of possible drivers, according to new Team Principal Eric Boullier, albeit with the least chance of being signed up.
With Robert Kubica already established at Renault F1, the team is now believed to be making inroads with regards to its second driver. "We have made progress in our negotiations but we are still far from being able to reveal our second driver," Boullier explained to Radio Monte Carlo.
When asked if the now Genii Capital-owned team is going to sign up a French driver for the upcoming season, Boullier replied: "There is a Frenchman on our short list; there are several scenarios, including a French scenario, but at the moment this is a scenario with the smallest chance of success."

His future's in doubt??? I thought it was ruins...he simply wasn't good enough for F1, and I doubt he ever will be.
Re: 2010 Season Discussions: Driver Line-ups, News and Misc
Personally, I would like to see Christian Klien in a Renault.
Or maybe Baguette? But the question is: Is he experienced enough for F1?
Or will they go for chinese sponsor money and sign Ho Pin Tung?
Either way, Renault will be a highly interesting team driverwise in 2010. Only thing they need then are working aerodynamics

Baguette could do with a season of GP2 I know Alguersuari came straight from the midfield of WSbR which Baguette won but even so, there is a huge gap between GP2 and F1
Irvine: Button will get murdered by Hamilton
Irvine: Button will get murdered by Hamilton
http://www.crash.net/f1/news/155770/1/i ... _2010.htmlFormer Ferrari star Eddie Irvine has offered scant encouragement to reigning F1 World Champion Jenson Button as he prepares to take on Lewis Hamilton head-to-head at McLaren-Mercedes - predicting he will 'get murdered' by his new team-mate
Jenson Button's decision to jump ship from the safe and familiar surroundings in which he swept to F1 World Championship glory in 2009 to join compatriot and title-winning predecessor Lewis Hamilton at McLaren-Mercedes this year is one he will come to regret, reckons Michael Schumacher's former team-mate Eddie Irvine.
After his late-season contract negotiations with Brawn GP – now Mercedes Grand Prix – hit an impasse over a failure to come to financial terms, Button began to look around for other options, and McLaren wasted little time in attracting his gaze. Before very long at all, a deal was done – and the media went mad for the constitution of an all-British 'dream team' at Woking in 2010, and one composed of the sport's most recent two world champions to-boot.
However, the move went against the advice of many of F1's most high-profile figures, with the conventional wisdom being that the 29-year-old doesn't quite realise just what he will be letting himself in for in going directly up against a man whose raw pace and single-minded determination to succeed proved enough to unsettle even double world champion Fernando Alonso in 2007 – when Hamilton was merely a 'rookie', and his team-mate widely-regarded as the best driver in the sport.
So bad did things get, indeed, that the Oviedo native wound up cutting short his three-year agreement with McLaren and returning to Renault after just a sole, unhappy campaign – and if Alonso couldn't handle Hamilton, reasons Irvine, then Button has no chance.
“Jenson has entered the lion's den,” mused the Irishman – who triumphed in four grands prix himself for Ferrari in 1999 – speaking to ESPN. “It was madness of him to move. He thinks he's going to be able to eat his steak, and that's not going to be the case – I think he's going to get murdered!
“It's the worst decision he could have made. The only reason I can think of is that he didn't want to stay at Brawn with Rosberg, who's not as highly-rated as Lewis but might be just as quick. Jenson may have thought that it's better to get beaten by Lewis than get beaten by Nico.
“Rubens Barrichello is a good little peddler and murdered Jenson in the second half of last season. Michael [Schumacher] never got murdered by anyone. Lewis came into his first year in F1 and beat a double world champion in Fernando Alonso – that's a class act. If you look at Jenson's career, Ralf Schumacher beat him, Giancarlo Fisichella beat him and Rubens beat him. There are too many races where he hasn't performed, to say he's at the level of any of those guys.”
Re: 2010 Season Discussions: Driver Line-ups, News and Misc
Eddie is a bit overreacting here I think.
Of course we all think that Lewis will dominate Jenson, especially when the chips are down, but Jenson has reached all of his goals already by winning races, the championship and earning so much money that he will never have to worry about that issue again in his life.
In fact he hasn´t got much to lose. If he´ll get the beating by Lewis we all expect - we´ll say "well ok, we all knew that before".
But if he can manage to keep up with Lewis, it would be a great achievement.
Lewis is very quick, but the toughest thing to deal with is his incredible self esteem and confidence - just like Schumacher and Senna have/had.
I think Jenson made the right move, that contract grants him a lot of money and it was time to move on after all those years at BAR/Honda/Brawn.
McLaren will be strong next year and I´m sure he can get 1-2 wins. I don´t think he could have done that at Mercedes this year regarding his poor form in the seconfd half of 2009.
Lewis will dominate him, but Jenson can cope with it I´m sure. He´s found his place in life by the looks of it.
Alonso on the other hand was all about dominating and his pride and reputation, much more loaded with grimness and refusing to accept a finish behind his teammate.

Lotus set for Feb 17 debut; hope to beat Force India, STR, Sauber by the end of the year; Upgrades coming in Spain
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80763Lotus is scheduled to get its new Formula 1 car out on track for the first time at Jerez in Spain from February 17, AUTOSPORT can reveal.
The Hingham-based team, which is continuing its preparations for a return to grand prix racing in 2010, will join the final two F1 tests of the winter that take place before the first race of the season in Bahrain.
Chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne told AUTOSPORT: "We are actually a week ahead of schedule. When we got the entry on September 12, our schedule said we would fire up on February 12 - and we are now scheduled to fire up on February 5.
"After that, we will be at the second Jerez test and then the final one at Barcelona. That will be the first time the world will see the car in action - and we are hoping that chassis two will run for the last two days of the Barcelona test.
"Being a week ahead of schedule is pretty good considering it is modern F1. To get an entry on September 12 and to be there in good shape is not a bad effort."
Gascoyne has openly admitted that with Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen on board, the team's ambition is to be fighting in the midfield by the end of the season.
And although he concedes the start of the season will be tough, a big car upgrade already in the pipeline for the Spanish Grand Prix should provide a boost to performance.
"We've said we want to be the best of the new teams, and start not far off the back of the established teams," he said. "I still think that is possible – especially because there has been more and more disruption to some established teams.
"We said, if you are the best of the new teams then, with eight cars going out in Q1, you've only got to pick up one or two stragglers to get both cars into Q2 – and immediately you are a midfield team. That's if all the teams are there – which I hope they are because it helps us."
Speaking about the car development programme in the early stages of the season, Gascoyne said: "We started wind-tunnel testing in October so, by the time we finalise the car, sort of around now for the first race spec, we will have had two months of wind tunnel testing.
"By the time we are in at the first race, we have had five or six months of wind tunnel testing, so the spec we are going to bring to Barcelona is going to be based on a hell of a lot more work than we have been able to do now.
"We have made pretty rapid progress, and if we can maintain that then we will be in pretty good shape come Barcelona mid-season - and that is really where you have to target where you've got to be.
"Yes, there is the getting there – but we've done the getting there now, we are going to be there, and we are going to be in professional shape and we are going to be okay.
"Now it is about where are you mid-season, where are you end of season, and I want to end the season beating Force Indias and Toro Rossos and whoever is struggling – maybe Saubers. I want to be picking them off."
