lol just rewatch 2000 FULL season and you will directly change your mind
The LOL is on you...... I watched it about 3 weeks ago mate.......

I found it much more interesting than this years races, not to mention the fact that political games weren't very common in those days, and the comparative beauty of the cars, so it is a lot better than 2009 IMO.

2000 was a very good season, but its moments like these that make me like F1:

L. Hamilton: (2009) On the track, one of my biggest highlights was in Germany, when we tried the upgrade package for the first time. Before I'd even driven the car, you could see that it was a big step – we'd completely changed the front wing, the top body and the floor, and there was a lot of pressure for it to be right – and it looked good, the car looked fantastic.

And it only took me a few laps to realise that the car was an incredible improvement. Finally, after months of struggling, I could finally get the car to do what I wanted: I could get it turned in properly, and get hard on the power and just rely on the grip to get me out of a corner. Coming out of the Nurburgring hairpin and heading uphill into the fast esses, I accidentally left my radio switched on, and the whole team could hear me yelling and screaming because the car felt so good!

I felt a bit embarrassed afterwards, especially when Martin told me he'd played the recording back to the whole team! But I can see now that that was important for everyone's morale.

I am curious to know how much would have been rate the 2009 season if Button was Alonso and Vettel Raikkonen for example?

I wouldn't care if it was Senna and Prost driving, 2009 was still a dull season for on-track action.

but 2009 was similar to 2007 in term of track action but you say you prefer 2007 to 2009?!?

I think its like in football : we prefer to saw the best team fighting for the championship than worst team making an exceptionnal season.

I don't think it's a case of that - it was pretty obvious from the first lap of the first race where the titles were going and Vettel/RBR were never really that close to bring any tension. The most excitement in the championships was the battle for second in the WDC and third in the WCC and in the end those were decided by a puncture and an injury respectively.

That's not true at all-I'd much rather a minnow team beat a big team, in F1 or in football. If Burnley beat Man United over a whole season, or Force India beat Ferrari, I'm delighted. Also you can't deny 2009's lack of on-track action, 2007 had little overtaking but had a better finale. The 2009 season flattered to deceive.

I remember some many great moments (schumi against montoya, alonso and schumi in Imola, ...) but I also remember some very special moment when I feel very bad (Suzuka 2006, Spa 2008, Brazil 2008).
2000-2009 was great, I hope it will be the same for 2010-1019.

I think 2003 was pretty much the pinnacle of this decade. The qualifying format was better than ever, most of the races were well above average and races like Brazilian GP could be regarded one of the best races ever.

Raikkonen and Alonso got their first wins and Montoya was probably at his best back then. It would have been great to see either Raikkonen or Montoya to win the championship that year but car reliability wasn't on their side in the crucial moments. Actually everybody were somewhat inconsistent so the championship battle was kind of like in 2008, except that there was a lot more fighting on the track in 2003.

Probably many people here started watching F1 around 2007-2008 so that explains the result.

2000 and 2005 were pretty good too in terms of certain individual performances, but the championship fight itself was only open for a while during those seasons.

2000 was a good year. 2001, 2002 and 2004 were boring. 2003 was a good year too as well as 2005.

*Germans bookended the decade in terms of wins: Michael Schumacher won the first race of the decade in Australia in 2000, whilst Sebastian Vettel ended the decade by winning the 174th race of the decade, the last Grand Prix of the 2009 season in Abu Dhabi
*For the first decade, all world champions originated from Europe. Germany's Michael Schumacher (2000-2004), Fernando Alonso of Spain (2005,2006), Finland's Kimi Raikkonen (2007) and Lewis Hamilton (2008) and Jenson Button (2009) both born in Britain.

- The first decade not to have a tyre manufacturer from the United States competing.
- The first decade not to have an Argentine GP.
- The first decade to see the Chinese, Bahrain, Turkish, Singapore and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix's.
- The first decade to see live terrestrial broadcasts of all Free Practice sessions in some countries (eg Britain).
