Ha, they should call it Loyota. I wonder what's the last time that two teammates switched team at the same time as each other to the same place as each other.

EDIT: Probably Alesi and Berger (Ferrari 1995-Benetton 1996)
No, I'm not calmer. Just more jaded.

It is in Dutch, but more evidence that Renault are pulling the plug on F1 programme:

Kubica offers himself to McLaren

Raikkonen eyes sabbatical
Kimi Raikkonen stands to make more money in 2010 if he takes a sabbatical. Germany's Auto Motor und Sport reports that if the Finn accepts McLaren's current offer, he will earn €15m in 2010, as opposed to €17m if he has a season on the sidelines.

According to his termination deal with Ferrari, the Italian team has promised to pay Raikkonen €17m if he does not race in F1 next year, and €10m if he finds suitable employment elsewhere.

Realising this, McLaren has reportedly offered Raikkonen just 5 million for the 2010 seat, concluding that €15m in total earnings is a very healthy amount for the 2007 world champion.

Presently, Raikkonen's management team of Steve and David Robertson is demanding that McLaren pay a full retainer, plus agree to a reduced amount of sponsorship days for their charge.

Nick Heidfeld has been touted as McLaren's 'plan B', and in an interview with spox.com, the German was asked about Martin Whitmarsh's recent statement that the German veteran is perhaps F1's most underrated driver.

"At the moment I'm not ruling out any team," he answered.
Silverstone deadline passes without deal
The deadline issued by Bernie Ecclestone is likely to pass without a deal for a 2010 British Grand Prix in place.

It was reported earlier this week that the F1 chief executive was giving Silverstone bosses a "day or two" to sign his contract before the British race is pulled from next year's calendar.

The Times reports that the Northamptonshire track's management was "surprised" by the ultimatum, which is now set to end.

"Their puzzlement is such because they say Silverstone is waiting for Ecclestone to respond to amendments to the contract, not the other way round," the London based newspaper reported.

If renault waits any longer with this decision, I think they have no other chance... They'll lose all drivers they wanted to sign in 2010

Brawn surprised by lack of USF1 activity

http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/n ... 1640.shtml

And who wouldn't agree , USF1 and the other new teams news (except Lotus) are almost faded , all we heard was USF1 was verry happy and every week pasts 2-3 news topic written about them , Manor and Campos didn't even say anything except one of them signed Senna and Lotus has been in news since they got the green light to rejoin F1 meanwhile Sauber would be of course ready to start the testing if they didn't start already testing ..

Williams optimistic over Cosworth

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80040

Williams man Sam Michael is totaly right about what he said , Fuel consumption is critical for the upcoming season , we all know that Cosworth and Renault are the best on the field with these options , tho Renault was kinda unreliable for RBR but their main team engines were fine , meanwhile heading back to Cosworth it had like 1/20 failure during a season ... i think a good Aero/chassis would bring Williams and other Cosworth users to the points if not the podium

Fauzy set to become Lotus' third driver
Fairuz set to be a reserve driver, says Gascoyne
Saturday November 7, 2009

SUBANG JAYA: Lotus F1 Racing team chief technical officer Michael Gascoyne confirmed, well almost, the obvious when he said that Fairuz Fauzy “is 99.9%” in the team.

However, Gascoyne who has worked with McLaren, Sauber, Renault and Toyota, said Fairuz would not necessarily get a race seat when the 2010 season starts in Bahrain in March.

“Fairuz will be in the team probably as a reserve driver or a test driver. He has the talent but we don’t want him to ‘crash and burn’ in the race because of his inexperience,” said Gascoyne.

The 27-year-old Fairuz finished second in the Formula 3.5 World Series by Renault. He also had a stint in GP2 and raced for A1 Team Malaysia. His previous involvement with a Formula One team was as a test driver for team Spyker F1 in 2007.

“Take (Fernando) Alonso for example. He was signed as a test driver and didn’t get a race seat until after three years with Renault and he went on to win trophies,” said Gascoyne.

“This is exactly what we want with Fairuz, for him to have enough experience because racing in the Formula One is at a much higher level than he used to.”

Gascoyne said there was no point having a Malaysian driver in the team “and always at the back of the starting grid.

“If you ask any young driver if they’re ready for Formula One, their answer will be ‘yes’. But at the end of the day, it’s experience that matters when racing in Formula One,” said Gascoyne.
Thank God he's not a race driver

Translated with Google Translate, looks to me like it's untrue, but who knows.. Think Kimi is nr.1 at McLaren and then Heidfeld nr.2 choice..

I think making Fauzy an F1 driver would have been a disaster: He did F3.5 this year, same as Alguersuari and was around the same in terms of talent, although the STR was a RBR rebaged so it was a good car and Red Bull know how to nurture a young talent. Lotus on the other hand might have a car that would be difficult to set up so throwing in Fauzy would have been terrible

On Fauzy, he'll be destined for F1 Rejects if he makes it to F1 with Lotus. He'll be a disaster with an established team, let alone a new team. On Kubica, I'd sign him over Raikkonen. He's much cheaper, younger and I'd argue just as fast. Commercially he may not be as marketable though, and if Renault stay he won't be able to break his contract.

Rule changes for 2010:

* Refuelling is to be abolished for the first time since 1993. As a consequence, the cars will be allowed to refuel after the third part of qualifying. The 2010 F1 cars should look a little more bloated in the tail end with the larger fuel tank fit between driver and engine. Despite the resolution over the budget cap meaning that the 2010 regulations would default back to the 2009 rules, FOTA have expressed interest in a refuelling ban as it represents a way to cut costs.
* The maximum number of cars allowed to take part in a race shall be increased from 24 to 26 cars.
* Formula One Management will offer financial support to all new teams from next season, in the form of $10m (£6.25m, €6.8m) along with the free transportation of two chassis and 10,000 kg (22,049 lbs) of freight to each race.
* FOTA has agreed to scrap KERS for 2010 due to poor uptake and pressure from FIA to cut costs, although KERS is not banned in the regulations.
* The minimum car weight will be increased from 605 kg to 620 kg (1,334 lbs to 1,367 lbs) to stop taller and heavier drivers being at a disadvantage if KERS is added to their car, which will still be allowed in 2010, despite FOTA's agreement not to use the system.
* The qualifying system will change to accommodate the extra cars: 8 cars will drop out of the first qualifying session, 8 from the second and as in 2009, 10 cars will shoot-out for pole in the third session. The third session will now be run in low-fuel configuration due to the refuelling ban.
* Wheel covers which have been used by the teams since 2006 are also set to be banned for 2010
* During negotiations of a new Concorde Agreement at the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix, several details emerged of cost-cutting proposals by the teams including:

* Homologation of front and rear wings.
* A limit on the number of aerodynamic upgrades permitted over the course of a season.
* A continuation of the ban on in-season testing introduced for 2009.
* Restrictions on the number of team personnel who can attend a Grand Prix weekend.
* Complete closures of team factories over the mid-season summer break.

Calendar naming confusion:

The title of the race in Valencia in June has also been left open, with the possiblity that it could use the Mediterranean Grand Prix name so as to free up the European Grand Prix title for Silverstone, if Donington Park is unable to host the British event. Alternatively, the Valencian round could be known as the Spanish Grand Prix while the race in Barcelona would be called the Andorran or Catalan Grand Prix
