Frank Williams wants Rosberg to stay ...

Williams keen to retain Rosberg
Spoiler:
Sir Frank Williams has again expressed his desire to hold onto Nico Rosberg for next season. The German driver has been strongly linked with the McLaren team recently and is a likely contender to partner Lewis Hamilton in the event of the Woking team dropping Heikki Kovalainen for 2010.

With Kovalainen having performed well to drive second on the grid and then to a fourth place finish in Valencia on Sunday, Team Principal Martin Whitmarsh has explained that the Finn is currently doing everything necessary to retain his seat but must display consistency until the end of the season.

With Rosberg out of contract with Williams at the end of season and, as a German, attractive to Mercedes-Benz and McLaren, his current boss summed up the situation. "He is very much on our list," team owner Williams told Autosport. "I would have thought he must be on the McLaren list if they do drop Kovalainen and I think Norbert (Haug, Vice President for Mercedes-Benz Motorsport) would love a German driver - we will see."

Having signed Rosberg as a new Formula One rookie alongside Mark Webber in 2006, the committed Monaco resident has remained loyal to his team. "Nico is, on any three or five laps, the most exciting driver on the track," Williams continued. "He digs himself out of some holes that we put him in sometimes, comes by three places up at the end of the first lap.

"He is single-minded, chirpy, a little arrogant - which is good - and he is always very good with the promo people - never an objection, he is very good; it won't be months away, it will be the next few weeks where we get one position sorted out and hopefully, soon after, the second one."

With new drivers often a risk, as proved many times in the sport, Sir Frank admits that World Champion Hamilton would be a tough opponent for former karting team-mate Nico: "They all make mistakes. Lewis made fewer than anybody else but someone like him comes down from heaven only once every twenty years."

If Rosberg stays at Williams, Heikki stays at McLaren. Otherwise it has to be Raikkonen who holds them from their seat ...

Alonso 'still evaluating possibilities'
Spoiler:
Fernando Alonso's lips remain sealed over his movements for next year as the European season of 2009 draws to a close; with only the Grands Prix of Belgium this weekend and Italy in a fortnight remaining, rumours connecting the former double World Champion with the Ferrari team continue to circulate in the Spa paddock.

Before briefly discussing his plans for next year, Alonso gave the impression to reporters in the Spa-Francorchamps paddock that chances of Renault winning a race this season are sliding downhill. "We will see," he began to explicate on Thursday afternoon. "This year is different and you never know what is going to happen; last year it was difficult to predict our final part of the championship and this year it is also difficult to predict how it is going to be for us and the other teams.

"Maybe last year we had a better opportunity, because the car was improving with every race, whereas this year that is not the case; the 2009 Renault is already finished and the 2010 car has already started, so there will be little improvement from now on and it will become so more difficult to win races, but in the last three races we have been very competitive."

He added that some extra luck in Budapest and Valencia could have helped contribute to podium finishes before temporarily conversing of 2010: "We are still thinking and evaluating some possibilities so we'll see - maybe next week is too early…"

After these news in last few days, I think most likely he'll continue at Ferrari. Definitely not changing to rally yet, that's happening perhaps after next season.

Kimi will be in F1 in 2010 : he says that he have contacts with other teams and that he is too young to leave F1.

But where he will go??

Personnally, I think he will go in Mclaren
Jean Todt, Ross Brawn, Rory Byrne, Michael Schumacher = DREAM TEAM

Except for Australia losing the opening race, this is a decent calendar, thanks to Canada getting a race again.

18 Races, season starting in early March and ending in November, no big break between two races (longest is 3 weeks, unlike 4 weeks this season)... nice!

The organisers of the Belgian Grand Prix have confirmed that annually alternating their Formula One race with the Nurburgring is an option for the future.

Based on an article in the La Libre newspaper earlier this week, we reported that Spa-Francorchamps - with a contract through 2012 - is contemplating the option because it cannot afford to pay the race fees to Bernie Ecclestone every year.

Chief Belgian GP organiser Etienne Davignon on Sunday confirmed the event makes a loss every year and that talks with the F1 chief executive about an alternate plan are underway.

"If we alternate the race, for example with the Nurburgring - and I don't know if they are interested or not - then we keep the fans that come to F1, we get more income, and that goes against the loss," he said.

Spa and the Nurburgring, in Germany, are separated by geography in western Europe by merely 120 kilometres.

Davignon said alternating with F1's other German host had also been an option, but Hockenheim is expected to have a regular annual date.
