Who is the best racer in the current F1 field?
Re: Who is the best racer in the current F1 field?
Oviedo's own humanmissile, Fernando Alonso Díaz.
Then Vettel and Hamilton
Then Vettel and Hamilton
"F1 won't change me" -Jenson Button, just weeks before dumping his girlfriend of five years and buying a Ferrari

The poll results are quite surprising to me at the moment:
2 people voted for Kimi,
1 for Massa and
even 1 for Webber.
I thought this poll would be straight between Alonso and Hamilton and to a certain extent Kimi (because of his large fanbase here).

Since Schumacher is back and now part of the 2009 season; I nominate him. Lack of training and rough edges ATM ? Sure. But overall and historically speaking; it is only him. You've gotta look at their entire career not just chunks of races.
Schu aside, I vote Alonso.
Schu aside, I vote Alonso.

Alonso, he is a complete driver. Very good at qualifiying, technical side and overtaking although he might be not the best in the wet conditions but i think he is doing ok in the wet. But if Schumacher is on the list i will choose him

I'm slightly confused.
I said 'in the current field' yet Schumacher hasn't turned a wheel in an F60 yet. So why are people saying him; he hasn't proven himself in an F1 2009 spec car, what if he fails miserably? He could be worse than [s]Piquet[/s] [s]Nakajima[/s]... he could not do that well. ... shows fanboyism. I shouldn't have bothered to try and organise a valid vote

an f1 2009 spec car changes every race weekend, in that case anyone can fail miserably next weekend..phil1993 wrote:I'm slightly confused.

Re: Who is the best racer in the current F1 field?
I like Kimi Raikonnen, ever since he was at McLaren, but honestly, overall as a driver, Fernando Alonso is better, and 2 world titles proves it... I like both, so whichever is fine...
Re: Who is the best racer in the current F1 field?
this vote is good, if everyone honestly voted and really gave a thought about who is the best driver currently... my vote is Alonso...

Oh come on mate, you´re probably the biggest fanboy on the forum!joostlamers wrote:Bullseyephil1993 wrote:shows fanboyism
I also didn´t include Schumacher, because his career ended in 2006, full stop.
The "driver" we´re going to see this season is a 40 year old with a big name and a big history, nothing more. It´s like Michael Jordan with the Wizards. In the 80´s and 90´s Jordan could eat his opponents alive, in 2003 he was just a a decent, but ordinary player, who could still deliver the occasional fireworks, with an emphasis on occasional.
But if people base this vote on history, then they are right of course. If you include Schumacher in the current field, which apparrently some have done, then he is head and shoulders above everyone else.
I personally think he reached his peak in the mid/late 90´s, where he pulled out some stunning results in the Benetton and in a Ferrari that was miles behind the Williams.

You have always been quite moderate phil, that´s why I love you (not in a gay way)
