Haug: Teams may rethink KERS now

Lewis Hamilton's victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix could force a rethink in Formula 1 about the use of KERS, now it appears that the hybrid technology is making a big difference in races.

That is the view of Mercedes-Benz motorsport boss Norbert Haug, who thinks the way that Hamilton's triumph was helped by his KERS allowing him to move up the field may show rivals that they cannot now do without the system now.

McLaren and Ferrari are currently the only teams running KERS, with BMW Sauber and Renault having dropped their systems earlier on in the year.

Haug thinks that KERS' reputation is fast being enhanced, and it may come to a point where other teams can no longer afford not to run it if they are to have a chance of victory.

"I think it is now a different story," he explained. "If KERS helps you to win then it is mentioned. Before it was probably said that the little boys use KERS and the others do not, but I think it is different now. Maybe we will see teams changing to KERS even during this season."

F1 teams have currently agreed to abandon KERS next year, because of the huge development costs, but Haug thinks that even that decision may now be reconsidered - as he hinted at a standard system perhaps being the best way forward.

"Well, if it comes to a KERS competition this will be expensive," he said. "I should be the KERS promoter, but we definitely follow the majority verdict of FOTA. So we will see.

"But I think maybe it is a discussion for later this year about whether a team uses KERS or not, because it is just very convincing. And the Mercedes-Benz hybrid system is the best one, as we showed in Hungary."

We always have to remember that Toro Rosso will no longer be linked to Red Bull Racing Tech Team so , the STR5 will have a different Design ... how'ever

I predict Alonso - Sutil @ Renault (in case the team continued in F1 )
Rosberg - Nakajima Williams Renault or Williams Cosworth
Toro Rosso will have Buemi and Jani ? i'd like to see him in F1

We still have some names who are hidden and unconfirmed like : Kubica , Heidfeld , Klien , Kovalainen , Bourdais , Liuzzi , Barrichello , Bruno Senna who was linked to STR and Brawn , Sato .. i forgot most of them

Not to forget the Engine Supplies we have Red Bull who wants a Mercedes engines (or BMW who lately confirmed they're fully out of F1) , Williams who is looking forward to ditch Toyota from their back , Renault who will loose Red Bull , Toro Rosso who didn't confirm their engine but i guess their engine will be Ferrari again and Toyota... and of course the Legendary Cosworth

I personally think that Villenueve will not join USF1 (probably I just hope so) and that Rosberg will join McLaren to replace Kovalainen.

The journalist from Top Gear website just made a complete clot of himself by saying Natascha Gautaung (Buemi's cousin) was dominating F2 finishing 1st then 2nd then 1st then 2nd, but mistook that for Race 1 and Race 2 on the wikipedia page, as a member points out

For now, only in talks with some F1 teams. Nothing really very solid, but some good oportunities showing. Hard with the changes happening! My name does help me with media and publicity, but it's still hard to find good sponsors. I have to take every opportunity to be racing. And I also have to be able to deal with the great pressure that comes with people comparing me to Ayrton. I'm Bruno, not Ayrton and I want to make my own history, and not live up to people's expectations.

Concorde Agreement has been signed

Following approval by the World Motor Sport Council, late last night FIA President Max Mosley signed the 2009 Concorde Agreement, heralding a renewed period of stability for the FIA Formula One World Championship.

The Concorde Agreement – a contract between the FIA, F1’s Commercial Rights-Holder and the participating Teams – sets out the basis on which the Teams participate in the Championship and share in its commercial success.

The WMSC has also approved a slightly revised set of stable Sporting and Technical Regulations (to apply from the 2010 Championship onwards), which have been agreed by the FIA and the Teams and which will be published shortly on the FIA's website.

The new Concorde Agreement, which runs until 31 December 2012, provides for a continuation of the procedures in the 1998 Concorde Agreement, with decisions taken by working groups and commissions, upon which all teams have voting rights, before going to the WMSC for ratification.

In addition, as agreed in Paris on 24 June 2009, the Teams have entered into a resource restriction agreement, which aims to return expenditure to the levels that prevailed in the early 1990s.

With the 2009 Concorde Agreement and the resource restriction agreement in place, the FIA looks forward to a period of stability and prosperity in the FIA Formula One World Championship.
