I hope cylinders and revs are unrestricted, with only capacity limited. Then we may see engines that have 20,000rpm, and differences in engine power which made for better racing and meant the pecking order changed more than it does now. Banning refuelling is OK, as it means tyre wear becomes an issue again and drivers have to preserve tyres. Races from the 1980's and early 1990's were great, partly because tyres made races (see Paul Ricard 1990). Hopefully cars won't look after tyres very well so tyre strategy becomes essential, and looking after fuel may be an issue as well.

Yes I want to see real qualifying in Q3. Actually, new rules meant it but they are now scrapped so it remains to be seen whether it will be included into 2010 Regulations.

I'm against refuelling. Tyre management is way better indicator than fuel strategy. Seeing cars passing only during pit stops is just simply annoying. I don't want to wait pit stops to see some position changes. Put the same fuel on each car and see which of them look after their tyres. That's the real challenge for me. So, declaring wieghts will be null and void.

V10s? Not necessarily as long as we could see real racing. I don't bother whether engine revs are 20.000 or 17.000 if cars are able to pass on track and show some action. Do you prefer 22.000 rev. engines on cars which will not still be passing other cars? Well, at least I don't prefer.

Forget V10's, I'd love V12 engines to return, they made a fantastic noise and were hugely powerful, though they wasted fuel and made for poorer handling. Tbh I don't want refuelling, rarely do we see frontrunners on completely different strategies and cars don't overtake because they know they'll pass in the pitstops. No refuelling makes cars harder to drive and makes driving smoothly a necessity, and may mean real differences in strategy. I agree though on everything else, real qualifying needs to return.

yes, but corners such as Eau Rouge are too easy with V8s, V10s sort the men from the boys

Well I have just got a couple of names with contracts in next season, I don't know if they are right though.

Mclaren: Hamilton
Ferrari: Massa and Raikkonen
Red Bull: Vettel
Toyota: Glock
Renault: Alonso

It looks like they are the only drivers with contracts for next year, so far. I am curious to know what drivers Campos, Manor and USF1 will pick up. I am sure Davison and De La Rosa will get a drive with one of those teams.

maybe we will see the experienced test drivers now going to new teams and the new drivers coming onto test driver position, but with limited testing they will not have much experiecne of driving by testing,,

I thought Alonso had a contract with Renault just for '09

It's for 2010 as well but many people speculate that the contract has clauses which allow Alonso to leave the team if desired (ie if the results are not good).

Refuelling ban certain for 2010

Formula 1's ban on refuelling looks certain to still be introduced next year, AUTOSPORT has learned, despite the sport currently reverting back to the 2009 regulations.

As part of the agreement reached between the Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) and the FIA earlier this week, it was agreed that regulation changes set to be introduced for 2010 would be scrapped - with this year's rules being kept on for another season.

Although the reversion of the rules was designed to scrap the introduction of a budget cap for 2010, it also had the knock-on effect of getting rid of changes that had been agreed with teams - like the ban on refuelling.

A FOTA source has confirmed that work is currently underway on what modifications need to be made to the 2010 regulations - with refuelling certain to be one of the issues that is brought up.

The source said: "There will be a few amendments to the rules that need to be agreed unanimously. This will be about refuelling and a few other items, and should be completed in the next few weeks."

Teams have pushed for a ban on refuelling because of the huge cost involved in shipping the pit equipment around the world, and the fact that strategy factors now do little to improve the racing.
