I hate Christmas. Every Christmas themed thing (decorations, music, TV, imagery, everything..) is so ridiculously naff and disingenuous. I like New Year, because it's something more proper to celebrate.

The only good thing about xmas is parties (don't say presents, I don't need anything except that which I'd prefer to choose myself) but I go to many many clubs and parties anyway!
No, I'm not calmer. Just more jaded.

Well I feel like that when its Christmas in October and November and early December because adverts tell us it is but i do like Christmas (except for the painfully boring days of visiting relatives)

Me too in October and November.
My family only visit on Xmas Eve and maybe the day after Boxing Day. But I go to my Gran's on Xmas day and my auntie's on Boxing Day. Weird tradition :p
Its not really borng cause most of my cousin's go on the Wii and stuff with me, they're strange beings :laugh1:  Don't tell them i said that :p

When its Christmas time I think of 2 songs:Fairytale of New York by Kirsty MacColl and The Pogues, and I Won't Be Home For Christmas by Blink 182 (That song is about how horrible Christmas is and has some great lyrics).I'm not a lover of Christmas,it often is a glorified display of vanity, jealousy and pretend-niceness.Nonetheless its lovely seeing my nieces' faces when they see their presents (Yes,I'm 16 and have 4 nieces:My family's very fragmented and confusing to outsiders,as I have 1 sister,3 older half-sisters,4 nieces and split-up parents).Nonetheless its nice to see everyone, and the food is superb.I feel guilty about presents,as I don't really want much and my parents don't have money coming out of their arses.I asked only for some clothes as I don't want anything but my parents and relatives are too generous just to buy me clothes...

I do not want socks or fruitcake. I even made sure that I don't get any by announcing to all my friends that I bought lots of socks and lots of fruitcake so they can get me something else!
