Keegan resigns as Newcastle boss

Kevin Keegan has resigned as manager of Newcastle United after just eight months in charge.

The announcement follows lengthy talks between the 57-year-old and the board.

"I've been working desperately hard to find a way forward with the directors, but sadly that has not proved possible," Keegan said in a statement.

"It's my opinion that a manager must have the right to manage and that clubs should not impose upon any manager any player that he does not want."

Keegan returned for a second spell as manager in January, to the delight of an adoring faithful on Tyneside.
Curbishley quits as West Ham boss

Curbishley took over from Alan Pardew in December 2006
Alan Curbishley has resigned as manager of West Ham because of a lack of control over transfer policy.

Curbishley tendered his resignation on Wednesday and it was accepted by owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson.

The final straw for the 50-year-old had been the enforced sales of Anton Ferdinand and George McCartney.

Curbishley said decisions had been made "without involving me", amounting to "a breach of trust and confidence meaning I had no option but to leave."

The former West Ham player, who succeeded Alan Pardew as manager at Upton Park in December 2006, added: "The selection of players is critical to the job of manager and I had an agreement with the club that I alone would determine the composition of the squad.

"I started my West Ham career when I left school in 1974 and have remained a lifelong fan.

"I have been incredibly proud to manage such a great club and my decision to resign has been very tough.

"Nevertheless, I wish the club and the players every success in the future."

Newcastle fans furious about Keegan's resigning - not with Keegan, but with the board for not giving KK control.

No surprises there.Anyway what about these Man. City owners? These people who I believe are involved in the 2009 Abu Dhabi GP are connected to the Abu Dhabi royal family who are worth $1.4 Trillion. With that money how great will Man. City be,and how good will the GP be???

When I see all these sport marketing projects of the Red Bull brand I always try to understand - do these guys earn anything in their business, or they waste all the profits for F1 and air races? What an amazing brand!

I'd have to toss my vote to baseball. I don't understand why people can spend so much money and time watching that. Most of the time, there are 8 players on the field doing absolutely nothing. Just not for me.

I retract. Worst sport in the world is.., oh yes, Formula 1.
Just watch the Spa 2008 Grand Prix for a proof.
