Re: Cricket
sri lanka has one of the best bowling attack and if they manage to get a decent score in the first innings, they will certainly win..

Then at the end of the year, Federer could be Number One again. Can he?phil1993 wrote:It starts Monday!

Re: Wimbledon 2009
Presumably yes, as he won the French Open as well.
Annoying in the UK is that there is huge hype on Murray now he is effectively #2 seed

Re: Wimbledon 2009
UK desperately want to see a British winner in Wimbledon. As far as I know, they have none. That may be an explanation to this.

Re: Wimbledon 2009
Last British Wimbledon win was Laura Robson in the girls junior last year, and Jamie Murray won the mixed doubles with Jelena Jankovic in 2007
But men's single was last won in about 1936 with Fred Perry (I think)

Re: Wimbledon 2009
Yeah, I ment men's single. They had faith in Tim Henman once and he was good but never achieved that goal with Pete there all the time. And as long as Federer is there, I'd pretty much doubt Murray will have any chance either.phil1993 wrote:Last British Wimbledon win was Laura Robson in the girls junior last year, and Jamie Murray won the mixed doubles with Jelena Jankovic in 2007

Re: Wimbledon 2009
Murray is good - he has beaten Federer many times, but I would prefer Roger to win
Re: Wimbledon 2009
Sadly i never see Wimbledon, it`s the only G Slam that Eurosport doesnt cover.....
Federer has the chance to show his supreme class anywhere now the pressure of Roland Garros is off, but i can see Andy as a favourite too, he`s a strong player and Roger as good as i think he is is not undefeateble. Nadal`s knees problems are often discussed by Eurosport commentators, they said it several times that if he kept playing as he does his career would be very short, so i`m not surprised with his current situation. Phil, why do brits suport a scottish guy as "british" when no english guy is around ? Cause if we check some history, not always scotts and englishmens get along fine right ? Same hype happened with Colin Mcrae when he won the RAC for the 1st time, just curious....

Re: Wimbledon 2009
Because we are Britain, they tend to support Murray, but its like with DC in F1, he considers himself as Scottish, but the press refer to him as British, whilst English people are always stereotyped as Brits, does that make sense? Its like English are not allowed to say they're English, but Scots can say they're Scottish rather than British.
But supporting Murray is the closest thing the press have to an English winner, but he is still British so is part of the UK.- It would be like if Portugal and Spain were separate countries from the same state - Portugal would support Nadal even though he's Spanish.

Re: Wimbledon 2009
Murray has a great draw, Roddick, Simon and Gonzalez are the best players he has to face before the final, and Murray should beat all of them. If Murray gets to the final Britain will stop...

I hate American Football. I find it boring to watch and to play it.
