+1

If these car was nº 8 and not nº 7, surely 25 grid positions for 4 years penalty

A bit extreme, but yeah, I understand what you mean. I think he should have got a penalty at the time but its too late now

I believe that in England this is called a joke, lest any Vettel fans get hot under their collar about the victimisation of St Sebastian.

Bollocks, Alonso would probably have got away with it like Massa did.

He's not lucky, he's in a Ferrari, that makes the difference. Incredible, there's something like censors on that car?!?!?

he is lucky - he is in Ferrari :p

and yes, there are sensors in the cars.
And again - too late for anything to be done, apart from stewards to be sent to the optitians :)

Massa starting error now under investigation

Formula 1 governing body the FIA has launched an enquiry as to why Race Control and therefore the stewards were not made aware of Felipe Massa’s incorrect positioning on the Belgian Grand Prix starting grid.
As the formation lap came to an end at Spa on Sunday, a collection of spectators and television commentators noticed the mistake by the sixth-placed Ferrari driver, whose car was positioned further forward that was permitted.
Under usual circumstances, both electronic sensors and nearby marshals should indicate the inaccuracy – which breaks sporting regulations – although the Paris-based federation is now questioning why the stewards, which included 1992 World Champion Nigel Mansell, were not informed during the race.(gpupdate.net)

yes there are a lot of sensors in the car but it doesn't help in this situation. There are sensors too in the ground and the starting position but they only look for movement before the 5 lights go out. The only way this would have been detected is by camera or the naked eye.
