I don't often disagree with you, but I feel that most of the front runners have had pretty equal luck this season. This for me was Alonso's first really bad luck moment of the season - along with Malaysia but that didn't cost him many points. Hamilton was thumped by Webber in Oz and had a failure in Spain. Vettel had mechanical failures in Bahrain, Oz & Spain. Button had a mechanical issue in Monaco.

Canada was his own fault for not dealing with Buemi & Chandhok, but he got baulked badly by Trulli

Alonso has been very poor this season, i personally think Kimi would be doing a better job, and of top of all he wouldn't be whining.

This is why British fans are getting annoyed. Compare David Croft (BBC 5 Live) to Jonathan Legard (BBC1/2) at the start of the race
David Croft wrote:"4 lights, and now 5 lights, and away we go, and it's not a bad start for Vettel, and Hamilton is pressuring Webber already, into 2nd place, and Alonso trying to get past Webber who's had a disaster, Hamilton and Vettel, VETTEL GETS PUSHED WIDE, AND ALMOST INTO THE BARRIER, and almost the Ferrari tucking in on the inside to get past Lewis Hamilton, and somehow, Vettel just stays in the lead, now Lewis Hamilton under pressure in 2nd from Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, now up into 4th place, and Jenson Button dicing with Mark Webber, and he's moved himself up into 5th at least, but it's a decent start eventually by Vettel, and Hamilton all along with Alonso at the back of his rear wing and just keeps hold of that 2nd place. As Button loses a place, to Robert Kubica going through turn 10 the right hander!"
Jonathan Legard wrote:"Now we wait for those red lights, Red Bull have never scored points here, but they're starting like this could be 3rd time lucky in Valencia, and away we go! Vettel! Webber! Hamilton's gotta make a move and he does do! He's got the inside line and Webber.. he's done it! He's ahead into the first corner. Now can he hold it there? He darts on the inside of Vettel he's going for a brake early on and Vettel has just run a little bit through and almost Webber's through coming through in 3rd he's dropping back as well. Hamilton is still in 2nd place and Alonso is now into 3rd. Webber's going backwards cause Massa's going through as well! Vettel's got clear, Hamilton Alonso, Webber's going backwards now, he's back into 5th place!"

Webber after the race:
''I'll be supporting the English for once today (football)
Jake: ''It's 2-0 Germany already.''
Mark: ''Seriously? F*ck!''
Proud Kubica fan!

Rosberg: " driving round wasting my time"
Kobayashi: "I was concentrating so hard on overtaking people that I didn't know how many laps were left. Then suddenly I understood, when I saw lots of guys waving at me, that that was the end of the race."

Did Petrov collide with one of the FI's btw ? Saw some smoke coming from the back of Petrov while Liuzzi just avoided him. Maybe they touched ?

as Petrov said on one Russian web-site:
'I had a dangerous moment at the start - one of FI drivers did a risky attack. We could collide, but it was important for me to go through the whole race to the finish.'
I assume that he managed to avoid the impact.
