phil1993 wrote:Because that is a ridiculous penalty. Okay, so when Hamilton cut the chicane at Spa, he should be given the time it would take to take the chicane (4 seconds) and add to his race time rather than 25 seconds? No, a penalty is what the rules state a penalty is. The penalty was a drive through which had to be turned into a 25s race time delay. The rule for a jump start has always been for a penalty and rightly so.

Rules are Rules. If you broke some, you MUST be penalizated. No matter what your name or what your car.morsus wrote:that 0.1 secs (as you say) at the start is not only that amount of time of advantage.
3rd to 1st = two positions we'll never know if he would overtake without that jump start. And the two most dificult positions to get..that was big advantage..
0.1 delay is ridiculous, yes of course, I said that, it's so ridiculous like a reprimand. And there are some drivers with a lot of reprimand this year (let's forget crane and other stories), with are not penalizated, and others, who are penalizated as far as he deserved.
Let's drive with same rules for everyone.
cheers

No matter if was for 0.1 or 0.2 or 0.001. He broke a rule, he MUST be penalizated. But others who broke rules, must be penalizated too, and this is the problem, they wasn't penalizated.andrebires wrote:He moved 0.2 seconds before the red lights off.megasyxx wrote:i think alonso's jump start ruling was a bit on the borderline.....seeing the replays, i think the car moved exactly when the lights went off > or maybe a hundredth or two before.....very hard to judge.

The FIA were ridiculous with the penalties in the Mosley era (particularly the later stage) but this year there has been over-compensation. Penalties should still be handed out where appropriate. Penalties for such things as 'blocking' a driver that's nowhere near you are absolutely ludicrous, but penalties for driving that is extremely dangerous is appropriate.phil1993 wrote:F1 Fans:

Yes there are some hypocrites, but they can be easily ignored.

the thing with alonso's start was unfortunate as one of the commentators said at the time once he started moving he incurred the penalty so he just kept his foot down, what does surprise me is how charli whitting and the others noticed it if it really was 0.1sec they must have eyes like hawks.
