I must say I fully agree with Martin (Brundle).
Lewis deserved a penalty, as it was foolish of him to go 2-wide in the pitlane, although Vettel was naughty in pushing him, an offence that was (rightly) given a reprimand for.
Although the statistic on Hamilton's overtakes is extremely impressive.

FIA decision is like say: "Alonso, should not be penalized for jumping the start for less than a second, Let's take a few tenths of its race time". STUPID!!!. Thats FIA today.
grettings
Re: Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix 2010
yes thats right theres not gray area for pernalty. if you broke a rule you get a penalty not a yellow card.dacer wrote:+1 Hamilton and Button must be penalized!!!. Vettel maybe too, but not sure.cformula1 wrote:I must say I fully agree with Martin (Brundle).

one per race ???
maybe next race he cuts a chicane and becuase its first time in the year he only gets a reprimand!!!!
Ferrari Rules!!!!!!
Re: Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix 2010
I think it's difficult to judge Button's 'error' because the TV cameras only showed the last fraction of a second of it.
Re: Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix 2010
In terms of skill and determination Lewis is the best out there.JoostLamers wrote:OMG! I just read an article stating Hamilton already overtook 32 cars this season, he only overtook 2 or so in Bahrein, which means he has done about 30 in 3 races. Sick!
I loved it how he schooled Vettel in the pitlane Classic stuff
The battle with Michael was also great both pushing hard driving like real man with the better man (Lewis) winning in the end.
Re: Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix 2010
couple of thoughts after Chinese GP:
1. Why don't they just ban prolonged (more than 2 sec for example or 20 meters) driving on the blue strip and mechanics' area in the pit lane? Than anyone on the inside would back off in the situation Hamilton/Vettel.
2. Button's approach is very mature and Nico is performing well
3. Ferrari drivers are not good when they have to overtake people. Something that Lewis and I think Vettel did quick, those guys couldn't repeat with the same speed. 3-4 laps longer to perform than others

i hate FIA for give Alonso a penalty, and not to others who deserve it too!!!.
Why if Alonso start 0.1 seconds before, FIA sums 0.1 seconds to his total race time and don't give a drive throught?
cheers
Re: Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix 2010
Because that is a ridiculous penalty. Okay, so when Hamilton cut the chicane at Spa, he should be given the time it would take to take the chicane (4 seconds) and add to his race time rather than 25 seconds? No, a penalty is what the rules state a penalty is. The penalty was a drive through which had to be turned into a 25s race time delay. The rule for a jump start has always been for a penalty and rightly so.
Re: Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix 2010
i think alonso's jump start ruling was a bit on the borderline.....seeing the replays, i think the car moved exactly when the lights went off > or maybe a hundredth or two before.....very hard to judge.
Re: Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix 2010
that 0.1 secs (as you say) at the start is not only that amount of time of advantage.
3rd to 1st = two positions we'll never know if he would overtake without that jump start. And the two most dificult positions to get..that was big advantage..

Re: Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix 2010
Well I personally don't think any penalties need to be dished out. I merely hope that when Hamilton does inevitably step over the mark, that they don't just give him a warning.
On another note, I think there's something about those McLarens which makes them incredibly (/comparatively) good behind other cars. Ferraris and others seem to struggle, and I really don't think it's entirely the driver in each case. Alonso is generally up there with hamilton at overtaking.

No, I'm not calmer. Just more jaded.
