Currently we expect a dry but mainly overcast day for practice, with possibly an occasional glimpse of the sun during the second session and a maximum temperature of 28 degrees.
Saturday could see conditions turn damp for a time. There will breaks in the cloud allowing some brief sunny spells, but occasional showers could be blown in from the ocean during the afternoon. Temperatures will drop slightly as the wind swings around to a northerly direction. Top temperatures are set to be cooler than the first day, at around 25 Celsius.
Race day poses the biggest chance of weather impacting the on-track action at the moment. As the second low moves in, showers and possibly longer spells of rain are expected during the afternoon, with the threat of rain lasting into the evening. The top temperature will again reach 25 or 26 degrees Celsius, but wind speeds will increase, giving the drivers another factor to consider.
Re: 2010 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix
BBCFRIDAY: With high pressure slipping eastwards after dry and settled conditions for much of this week, a weak cold front is expected to edge into the Melbourne area during the day. Despite a good deal of dry running there's a chance of some isolated light to moderate showers appearing during both the 1st and (more especially) 2nd Free Practice sessions. Generally a lot of cloud around during the afternoon, but very warm nonetheless with temperatures reaching 28-29C. Quite breezy during the two sessions; winds will shift from NW to SW by midday and ultimately southerly, averaging approx. 15-20mph.
SATURDAY: High pressure sits close to Tasmania, but Friday's front is still decaying close to Melbourne. It's very likely some further showers will develop during the day - and potentially during the qualifying hour - as partly cloudy skies once again prevail above Albert Park. Temperatures will be slightly down on Friday's values, peaking around 25-26C into the afternoon. Winds will be predominantly SE to then SW for much of the morning and early afternoon; not as breezy as Friday, windspeed averaging 8-10mph.
SUNDAY: Unsettled conditions will be spreading eastwards during the day as an area of low pressure moves across the Great Australian Bight towards Tasmania, swinging a trough and a band of rain, some heavy, into coastal districts of South Australia and then across parts of Victoria.

I'd recommend looking at the Melbourne rain radar to check for rainfall instead.
Albert Park is just south of Melbourne CBD, near St Kilda.

Re: 2010 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix
Drizzle won't make a huge difference to be honest, they mean more like the levels at France 2008. Very very light rain won't affect the track with 20-30c heat and cars pounding around
Re: 2010 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix
i dont think that it will rain in here (as i am in melbourne and live 5 km away from albert park). Today there was heavy fog in the morning here and usually after this kind of heavy fog, it does not rain for few days. To add to that, the weather prediction has changed for sunday 3 times in last 3 days LOL
