I suppose Alonso could have challenged Vettel either way, as his mid-race pace and the fastest lap after Vettel's technical issue showed. Good overall pace by Ferrari, Red Bull quick but not as consistent.... let's not mention reliability yet.

McLaren's, or should I say, Hamilton's race pace has been excellent, Rosberg in the beginning cost him quite some time, otherwise he might have been a contender for the Ferraris as well. Disappointing race for Button and Webber, did they actually race? Being defeated like that surely is not how you'd want to start your season.

Mercedes just lacking the pace overall, also a bit frustrating but it's not too surprising, though.

Force India (as Liuzzi's 9th place shows) and Kubica (11th despite a spin costing him like 20 seconds) were also strong.

About the refuelling rule... We still have to wait and see. Bahrain has usually produced dull and eventless races, and the new part of the track didn't help it, it seems. Even both GP2 races, with cars which are supposed to be good for overtaking, were extremely dull! One general thing can be said: Everyone is extremely cautious in the beginning, and only after they got rid off the Soft tyres, they started pushing. I suppose the races will be decided at the end of the race, instead of the dramatic start period we used to have pre-2010. At least drivers have to overtake if they want to improve, with only one pitstop, there is little to zero possibility to make up positions in pitlane. Now we just need to get on some circuits where you actually can overtake, having two medium-fast corners before the straights like at Bahrain surely doesn't help.

But my personal opinion/feeling is, even though the race overall was really broing, that the rules did help a bit. At least there was a bit of suspense towards the end as you didn't know whether the tyres/brakes lasted... Let's see how it works out.

After this Race A few things about this race

1. Ferrari and Red Bull Tie at Front (When reb bull no tech problems)
2. Mclaren from .800 to 1 sec slower (Ferrari need to work to keep this gap)
3. mercedez needs to improve a lot
4. its clear in many races teams will go to only 1 pit stop.

I was following lap times very closely ... Alonso only was able to catch vettel after problem started. Ferrari in the low fuel definitely is at least .3sec faster than any one else .... only Hamilton to get in 1.59s but not regularly .... anyways long way to go ;)

Feeling sad for vettel .... same thing happen last year
