fernando is wrong, lewis is the one he should worry about the most, he is the team mate and naturally your team mate is the one you should aim to beat first 8)

Agreed! But if on the otherhand you're expecting team orders maybe your teammate doesn't concern you so much... maybe there's even something to that effect in your contract... hmmmm

I don't see Alonso needing team orders to help him this year, I still think he can keep Hamilton behind him this year without Dennis's help. Next year the situation might be different though. Alonso surely expects the team to help him if tehre is a championship title in the offing.

Alonso has to have a really different set up to all other drivers... Renault made both cars Alonso compatible, McLaren aren't going to bother with it...

i just think ron makes any drivers life so miserable, just like it happened with the last years of DC an Mika at Mclaren, i only saw two drivers with just average results i was happy with mika´s decission to quit and not be another jacques villeneuve in the grid

then Montoya and Kimi turn which montoya just decided to leave F1 and Kimi just ended frustrated with the car performance and reliability

im not sure if he thinks he deserves team orders but he is defaintly annoyed at the fact that he is being upstaged by a younger driver, a rookie driver!

the 2 times defending champion being upstaged by his rookie teamate, im sure everyone would be annoyed if it were them in his shoes!
Thankyou Schumi you will always have a place in our hearts!

I don´t think Mclaren Mercedes is going to give any team directions against Lewis, since Lewis is English he is their favorite. Alonso will have to do everything alone!!

I think today there was clear evidence of "team orders". Hamilton tucked away neatly behind Alonso right from the start and, even though he made a point to demonsrate he was visibly quicker in at least two points in the race, he never attempted to challenge the Spaniard.

But we already knew that would happen from the press conference the day before:

saturday press conference wrote: Q: (Livio Oricchio - O Estado de Sao Paulo) For Alonso and Lewis, you are first and second on the grid and in the championship. All the drivers this year who led through the first corner went on to win the race. Will you talk to each other about the start?

Alonso: The team will say to us something I think. We respect each other obviously and want the best for the other one, inside the team, and we want to beat our opponent that this year seems to be Ferrari and starting first and second at Monaco what we aim is to finish first and second because it is the most points and apart from that I don't think there are any problems between us and it should be just a normal race.

Hamilton: I agree. The team will speak to us before, but we are professional. We respect each other and we are team-mates and we want to do a good job for the team, but we also want to win and we will go into that first corner probably not as aggressively as we would if we were going into it with a Ferrari. But we are going to be conservative and see what happens. We are on different fuel strategies, similar pace. So we'll have to see how it goes. It is going to be difficult tomorrow with the conditions and also you never know when the pace car is going to come out. We'll see.

So that proves that... McLaren boys are not allowed to race each other.

Very good read on that sentence BANANAGP (I mean the one in bold at the first post).

My opinion is that Alonso said that because he is absolutely confident that he is the best driver (not only him, I think every driver has got this in his mind). Therefore, he can beat Lewis cause he's in the same car, and he says "he doesn't worry me"; he says though that the Ferraris worry him, why? well because if they improve the car a lot he won't be able to do anything as a driver. That's the reason of his words.

So the answer of the topic would be "Alonso doesn't expect team orders, he actually thinks they won't be necessary" :P

Well at the start Felipe was creeping in so Lewis had to do something to stop him, it's not like Lewis would fight Fernando for 1st and risking a 2nd at the same time...anyway i don't think lewis would have made it past fernando anyway in the first corner, there's just no space at all

Fernando was on a lighter fuel load than lewis and fernando was pulling away from lewis in the opening laps

lewis may have been quicker at some parts but fernando responded, i don't think lewis was that superiorly quicker that a race win would still be strategically possible

i believe it was only a few laps from the finish when it was impossible for lewis to catch fernando when BOTH mclaren cars were ordered to cruise to the finish, i think that's reasonable, fernando demonstrated all week that he's the faster driver of the two

however if there was a safety car it would have been a totally different story and there would be accusations of lewis bias i'm telling ya   one week it's fernando's that unhappy and whiny the next it's hammy ...nothing is happening at all...look the two drivers are even equal in the championship...
