About 2016

Post by sermilan » 29 Apr 2015, 20:45

2016 season to begin on April 3 because the season opener in Australia will be moved on April 3rd. But what Australian Grand Prix organiser Andrew Westacott said as an explaination just did not make any sense: "The new date will see an earlier start time, and fans can expect the same great on-track action and off-track entertainment across the four days."

I don't get this at all. If you wanted to start the race earlier, why not just do it on March 15th or so, why moving the date? And the second part of his explanation does not make any sense at all. Anybody, any thoughts on this?

Because the way daylight saving time works means they can have the race at 3pm local time, while it'll be 6am in Europe (I believe) due to the way we change the clocks. Having it in March leaves an 11 hour time difference.

If that was the reason, they could do it at least on the last Sunday of March, when the actual change happens.
I don't get it....there surely must be a better way to solve this "problem"... I think it's some kind of BS, to be honest
