F1's Strategy Group rejected Marussia's request to run 2014 cars this year... :( :<>:

Force India were (rightly) happy to talk about the need to provide them with more support at the end of last season, but they get an opportunity to lend a team smaller than themselves a hand and do this.

Something doesn't add up in merely blaming the teams.

FIA gets six votes, F~0~M gets six votes and each of the six representatives from the teams has a vote. That makes 18 and my understanding is that you need just a majority, whereas on the F1 Commission you need unanimity.

So even if three or four teams, as Bernie claims, voted against Marussia that'd still be a minority...

Isn't it ironic that Force India don't want Marussia running their 2014 car when they themselves haven't yet finished work on their own 2015 machine? :zz:

Alonso out of Australia on doctors orders.

This is all very odd. Why can't they just say what's wrong?

He suffered a concussion. Another concussion within a short space of time can lead to serious brain damage, or worse. We're slowly learning about the brain and in rugby they're starting to implement more safety measures, which is good.

Franchitti, for example, had to retire in case he suffered another concussion.

Yes they've finally said that now. I don't know why they couldn't have said that when he missed the test.

Ahhh so Alonso out. Too bad.

It's ok i guess; better to watch everything unfold than risk another blow to the head.

So..... who will come 3rd??

I'm expecting the same picture as in late 2014, so probably the Williams boys. Bottas was absolutely flying at last year's Australian GP before he gave the wall a gentle love-tap that punctured his tyre.

Then again, we all remember Ricciardo's stupendous showing after RBR's catastrophic winter as well. I don't know what to make of their 2015 package, judging from testing, but I would guess that they might end up dicing with Ferrari and Williams for best of the rest.

McLaren will be lucky if they can finish the race. It's good that they've given Alonso the recovery time he seems to require, although the aftermath of that incident remains quite unsettling. Hopefully the car won't be a danger to its drivers.

Definitely.

Even worse actually, for everyone not Merc.
They had a huge advantage last yr and didn't even have to push the engines. Their ~1-2 sec advantge probably was more like 3+ secs if they really pushed. They could even start development for 2015 early (which everyone did as well).

Question would be how good is the aero for the other Merc-engined cars. And of course, when will the real Honda power be seen.

http://www.lepoint.fr/sport/fernando-al ... 421_26.php (French)

Not sure how seriously to take this as it's from a general news site and I haven't seen it anywhere else yet, but the article claims that Alonso had severe amnesia in the wake of his accident, to the point that he had no recollection of the past twenty years of his career. He has fully recovered his memory since.

That's not a huge event. Meaning... that kind of amnesia is expected during/after a concussion. Apparently, he had a considerable concussion, if not only for the symptoms but also the G forces recorded appeared quite high.

Interesting for all the drivers to be honest. From what i read, seems the lateral impact forces got very little dissipation.

Flavio Briatore's apparently seen a video of Alonso's crash. He says it's very strange and might have been caused by steering issues.

Ignore the price at the bottom.
UK: 19.99 GBP
Rest of the EU and Turkey: 24.99 Euro
Canada: 34.99 CAD
NZ and AUS: 39.99 AUD
US: 26,99 USD

I'm not sure if it's worth the money but I would really miss the live timing
