Yeah, Jos the Boss! I remember that race in 2001 in Malaysia. He drove like a maniac

Performance related radio messages look like they've been banned.
Nice :)

Can't believe this thing passed. This is impossible to police! Not just the coded messages as you've mentioned, but what really defines what helps drivers and what is related to pitstop/ safety? What about telling the driver about his fuel consumption, or how old the tyres are on the car infront of him? Is that helping the driver? The former is critical for finishing the race, and the latter will surely make the race more exciting? Pretty much everything that's said on the radio helps the driver in some way, thats why they have a radio!

Ridiculous. F1 fans are getting very picky lately. We've had a great year of racing so far, why change the bloody thing?

Fuel consumption - dashboard read out
Tyres of car in front - who cares, just try racing

On one hand this is a silly rule, but on the other hand I understand the reasoning. In the past the drivers would notify the pit wall that there was a problem and then make the decision to pit. The driver was in control and made the decisions. Now it's the opposite.

But in reality it is a perception thing. Instead of banning the radio transmissions going on, the FIA / F~0~M should ban the radio transmissions being aired.

Both fuel consumption and tyres of car in front are aiding the driver, are they not?

This is impossible to govern. What happens when teams start coding messages?

The driver is STILL in control and making decisions. Lewis Hamilton proved that last race when opting to push instead of preserving tyres for a later attack. Let's put Toto Wolff, or any other Mercedes team member in that car, and see if they can do the same maneuvers/ overtakes that Lewis did throughout the year? They won't be able to. Hence, the driver is still in control and a key piece in the puzzle.

The driver is like the striker in a football (soccer) team. All the attention can sometimes be on him, but he's nothing without the rest of the team behind him. Same thing applies in F1. The team can say anything over the radio, but they can't drive the car. That's how it should be. F1 should embrace the use of information and teamwork, not get rid of it.

This directive was made to improve the racing, hasn't it? Tell me, how was the racing this year anything but excellent? What more do people want?

I disagree with banning the airing of transmissions. This gives the fans an insight into how a race is won as a team. Although an argument can be made regarding its sporting fairness, since it can benefit one team and harm the other. Then, it becomes a case of choosing the transmissions appropriately...

Agree with you on all of that. All communication will be monitored and reviewed, coded messages will not be allowed. The point about the dashboard read out is relevant as information has always been available that way. As for Lewis at Monza, that's precisely the reason why I don't like hearing radio communications. Same for what happened between Alonso and Vettel at Silverstone. Putting on my rose tinted specs for a moment, there was a time when only a few bits of radio communication was broadcast. That was great. Now too much is broadcast and the communication is typically manipulated to create sensationalism. A less is more approach is necessary.

Hopefully requests like Rosberg asking during on Friday at Monza his racing engineer Tony Ross, " Give me driving instructions," will be avoided. Certain forms of communication from pit wall to driver is a necessity, but as a fan the last thing that I want to hear from any driver is, " give me driving instructions, " especially supposedly from the best drivers in the world.
