Regarding the schedule, everyone is saying that Monaco to New Jersey in a week is undoable, which I mostly agree with. But I just looked it up and the distance from Sochi to Japan (which are also supposed to go back-to-back) is 1400km more than the distance from Monaco to New Jersey.

Going from Monza all the way to Singapore then halfway back to Europe for Sochi then back to Asia for Japan seems so silly. The FIA really did a job on this one didn't they?

The issue with Monaco > New Jersey is the logistics of a new race plus the tight US regulations.

I think the solution is for everyone to have a Red Bull style "floatahome" for Monaco, then just sail across the Atlantic and moore up at New Jersey.

The latest figures reveal that the race promoter, Spa Grand Prix SA, which has been promoting the event since 2006 and has a contract to host the race until 2016, has made significant losses in both 2011 and 2012. The local government pays the debts because it considers the economic impact of the event to be of significant value to the region. The fees paid to Formula One are believed to be in the region of $20 million a year. The loss in 2011 was around $8 million, rising to $10 million in 2012. The results for 2013 have yet to be made public but further losses are expected despite the fact that the race increased its ticket sales by 15 percent in 2013.

I think it would be interesting if the FIA would let Pirelli announce 3 tyre compounds available for each gp and then allow teams to select 2 of the 3 tyre compounds......any thoughts on this guys?

So what does everyone think about the new rules regarding weight limits? Apparently it's quite a serious issue for the big drivers out there. Nigel Mansell thinks it's borderline 'discriminative':

Yes the minimum weight limit should be increased but should allow for bigger drivers, like Hulkenberg.

Joe Saward's blog is good reading although (as I've mentioned before) the accuracy of the content is normally somewhat questionable. That said it is refreshing to see a hack (involved in F1) being blatantly honest about with his views and responses to the readers. While his comments made be construed as being cunt'ish, at least he's not sugar coating anything nor bowing down to the standard F1 ass-kissing you get from other journos.

Theres a difference between sugar coated, and genuinely being an imbecillic ar****le though. What he says, some of it is correct but they way he replies to people is just ridiculous. Someone needs to happy slap him for a prolonged time and upload it to youtube

Oh for sure, don't get me wrong. I'm not suggesting he's not an ar****le. Just that it is sometimes nice to see a different way of delivering content, even if it is more akin to what you'd expect in the DailyMail as opposed to the Telegraph.
