Well, this is going to be interesting. :) Will they be able to maintain a healthy rivalry?

I don't see why not. Alonso didn't expect such fight in 2007, he thought McLaren will support him only for the title. The situation will be different next year, both drivers are mature enough to stay out of troubles. Obviously Ferrari signed Kimi with the recommendations of Fry and Allison.

Can't wait for 2014. I just hope the car will be competitive.

BTW, Sky Sports said Mark Hughes is the first to reveal the news  Someone from SumoiF1 (finnish website) revealed it a month ago.

Care to explain?

Rai and Alo are good for the WCC. MAYBE not so good for WDC (if you consider only individual ambitions), because it may be that Rai actually helps Alo more than Massa and Alo helps Kimi more than Gro... as long as they maintain civil. I dont see why not. I doubt Kimi will pull the stuff Hamilton pulled in Monaco and Hungary.

In any case, Ferrari are willing to sacrifice some personal ambitions to stop coming out empty handed. Screw RB and Vettel.

Also, Kimi has very good respect for Alonso and Ferrari respect and appreciate both... Kimi probably doesn't care if Alonso respects him or not.

You can think im trolling all you want. Alonso doesnt have a style or preference. Theres an interview where he talks about it. He doesnt prefer over or understeer. He changes his approach every lap. With Minardi it was oversteery and required more work and input behind the wheel. The renaults were more understeer and the michelins built majoratively around that.

The mclaren was oversteery but Alonso changed his approach to be more neutral. The ferraris change; f2010 and f150 were more understeer with durable rubber than f2012 and f138 are more oversteer.

The only thing consistent is Alonso 'cut' movement on the steering wheel. Very sharp and aggressive with minimal adjustment. Its his approach which changes every lap as the tyres wear and variables change. Its a great interview, trying to find it.

But he has no set driving style. Watch china 2005 and the understeering renault was driven so aggressive it was oversteering in corners. Its because he doesnt drive one way set in stone that he has had a podium in all but the minardi and won in 10 out of 13 seasons. Because he can drive to the cars peak performance.

Ferrari have shot themselves in the foot here. They had a chance to get a driver with many good years ahead of him that would likely be willing to play the number two role for a few years in Hulkenberg. Instead, they opt for a driver that will actually fight Alonso and has just about no room for improvement. And what are Ferrari going to do when Raikkonen retires? Try to get Hulkenberg from Lotus (or whatever team he's at by then)? I just can't see Ferrari having much success without a clear number one and number two driver. Of course chances are Alonso will still destroy Raikkonen anyway, but I don't think he (Alonso) will be too happy having a teammate battling him for position.

Ahh ok.

Well, i think Vettel will go to Ferrari in ~2016. Probably with Hulk, or Alonso if he renews.

They are going for a different approach; i think it's reasonable, because the other one... failed. Alonso is probably fed up too. The car is to blame, but with two drivers in top form, they may have been able to grab at least a WDC and at least to better on the WCC. Even with RB's dominance.

I would like to see Ferrari contend for the WCC. They can't do that unless they nail the new regulations. To be honest Alonso-Raikkonen is probably the best pairing in the short term, but if the car still isn't close to Red Bull then that really means nothing. On the other hand, if Ferrari do have the best car then I'm sure Alonso and Raikkonen will do what they need to do to bring a WCC to Maranello and perhaps one of them (probably Alonso) will grab a WDC as well. That said, I wouldn't count on Ferrari having the best car next year. In fact if the rumours about the Mercedes engines are true, it could be Mercedes that have the fastest car. Adrian Newey is genius enough to design a great car regardless of the regulations though, so I'm sure Red Bull will also be right up there as usual.

The internet is blowing up with 'Alonso is going to cry/2007/beaten by a rookie'. Anyone else cant help but laugh? Alonso will beat Kimi and it will be narrow. Both are grown up, mature and extremely talented. If one doesnt win, the other will. If ego's are in the way, good; nobody likes to be beaten. Both drivers WILL support each other if necessary.

What really is the big deal? 2007 is a long time ago. All you have to do is look at Hamilton; only 2012 can be considered as good as 2007 otherwise, he hasn't been as good since. Everyones grown up abit but the uber fans.

Alonso will outscore Kimi by a small margin, 20 points or less.
