I think he'll struggle to find a seat, but he does still have a lot to offer an F1 team. Alonso is the benchmark in F1, and on Sunday Massa finished 2-3 seconds behind him. If Sauber do go for Sirotkin, they'd need someone with Massa's experience in the other seat. If he finds another seat a new team could give him a new lease of life. Would be interesting to see him step out of Alonso's shadow.

Nice also that he got to announce this himself.

Even though it was obvious to see it coming, it's still a weird feeling. Over 7 years since Massa's first race for Ferrari. I was 14 when he joined. I remember seeing him at Goodwood as Ferrari's tester in 03.

It's rather unfortunate that his performance dropped after the accident. Thinking he nearly became the 2008 world champion. Never forget.

To be honest, its hard not to consider him a world champion really. He beat the man who will probably replace him during a season and a half. Stupid mistakes in Malaysia and Australia, from then on he was superb. I wish he never came back after the accident or atleast retired after 2010.

A good, but not a great. Massa was imperious on his day back in 2007/8 although the right man won the title. He was never the same after the accident, but I'll always wonder how much of that was psychological with Fernando being the #1. It's the right decision nonetheless.

@andrewbensonf1: Kimi Raikkonen will join Fernando Alonso at Ferrari in 2014. One-year deal with option for 2015.

If Kimi wins the 2014 title for Ferrari I will howl with laughter.

Kimi and Alonso are F1's best drivers. If either wins it's most likely a matter of handling the new car.

If the 'done' deal is true, then it will be pretty exciting. I still think looking towards the future, Alonso and Hulk is better. But as a fan... Alonso and Kimi at Ferrari is a dream come true.

If confirmed, a pairing of Alonso + Räikkönen would easily be one of the most exciting prospects of this generation. Like Senna/Prost, a team principal's wet dream and nightmare at the same time. It's a shame that it isn't happening in the fastest car - I wouldn't gamble on Ferrari nailing the new regs better than RB/Renault or Mercedes, but still very promising nonetheless.

What are Massa's prospects? Can't help but feel that the best of his career is long behind him. He still is a very respectable driver and I expect he'll be at least considered by some teams, but whether he'll ultimately get a drive in 2014 remains to be seen. Don't forget that the team hiring him would have to afford a multiple race winner / former Ferrari driver's salary, and I doubt many outside the top four have that kind of budget.

It seems the deal won't be announced today.
