A Force India mechanic escaped serious injury after being hit by test driver James Rossiter at Jerez on Thursday morning.
Rossiter missed his braking point when returning to the pits following an installation lap on the third morning of pre-season testing in Spain.
After failing to stop in time in front of the garage, he clouted the mechanic who was holding the front jack, throwing him into the air.
The mechanic was taken for medical checks, but a team spokesman confirmed to AUTOSPORT that he has been given the all clear, but was bruised and shaken.
Rossiter was able to resume testing and is pencilled in to run all morning, before handing the car back to Paul di Resta for the afternoon session.

at 10 euro for the day its an utter steal. Funny how you can go see testing for 10Euro yet to go see a race its 30 times that for a seat. Shows how out of touch the circus is.donald29 wrote:As I suspected. Shame for Jerez not to get more people through the gates.

If you lower the price and make more seats, youll get more people in paying less so you'd still get the money. IMO silverstone could have a good few more grandstands, lower the price and voilla you get more capacity, more people probably camping and buying food and merchandise, and recoup the money back other ways.
Off topic, on the MSN website they have article about Lewis' crash. The people there slagging him off saying its his fault and he's past it and Jenson is miles better and beat him at Mclaren, actually makes my blood boil to the point inwhich I have bitterly defended lewis armed with all the facts. I dont mind factual criticism or criticism in the heat of winning/defeat as thats understandable, but theres a level of criticsm where you think 'hold on, are you actuall real?'. Never thought id be Lewis biggest supporter somewhere!

A craven can be as brave as any man, when there is nothing to fear. And we all do our duty, when there is no cost to it. How easy it seems then, to walk the path of honor.

In spain he is though. Do you think Silverstone would get half as many fans in, if Lewis and Jenson werent on the grid this year? No way. Germany wouldnt be filled if it wasnt for Vettel or Schumacher either. Spain was never an F1 country until Alonso. Viewing figures in spain and attendance figures in spain suffered susbstantially when he didnt have a competative car, let alone not going to a race or testing.Vlad-SRB wrote:Alonso is not the end of the world. BBC F1 technical analyst Gary Anderson in Jerez
"Mercedes have brought a new front wing to Jerez and Nico Rosberg is running it on Thursday. We talked about their front-wing problems earlier and this one is definitely a step forward. It is a five-element wing, but what's unusual is that it has five elements all the way from the endplates up to the start of the FIA-defined aerodynamically neutral section in the centre of the wing. The large number of elements is a good idea in front of the front tyre because the team want to have enough wing shape to give good downforce during braking, but when the driver turns into the corner, the blockage created by the front wheels is removed, and in that situation it's easy for the airflow to separate and for the car to lose downforce. The slot gaps between the elements of the wing help stop that happening. But inboard of the front wing, the more slot-gaps you have, the less downforce you can create. So most teams will have fewer elements inboard of the tyre. Having said that, it is a step forward and it will give them more consistent downforce, and less understeer mid-corner, if not perhaps more overall downforce."

I think posting the report before the session officially ends is my new record.

When Mansell tested a Williams at Brands Hatch in preparation for his comeback in 94 something like 14,000 people turned up, on a Tuesday!

I think it's natural with every country. Countries such as Britain will always have people going to F1 races, because it's a massively motorsport driven country. But Lewis + Jenson boosted the attendances significantly.
It's the same with Spain + Alonso. Germany's numbers are dwindling post-Schumacher, even with Vettel's presence. It's because the numbers shot up with Schumacher and are currently being just about sustained. Italy saw a drop when Ferrari had a bad year in 2009 I believe.
There's some countries where I think there'll always be a lot of F1 fans going to races. Every country with a driver will see an increase, some more than others. While other nations are dependant on a driver.
