Take it that means he is just going travelling, seeing the world through a different pair of eyes, the grass isnt more chrome on the other side, took a silver arrow to the knee etc etc etc, and he will rejoin Mclaren one day?

I really hope Lewis joins Ferrari in a few years. He lives comparably close to Maranello anyway and I feel he'd be a perfect fit there.

He shouldve teamed up there this year. Ferrari shouldve hired him. Even if Alonso gets butthurt by it. It would be the best pairing in Formula 1 since Prost and Senna. Its a better environment than Mclaren.

Not better than Vettel and Alonso. I think Vettel and Alonso would get better results as a team, than Ham and Alo. Sooo, perhaps in 2014, if the rumours are true.

I always had some hope Kimi would partner Alonso.... but i guess he's happy at Lotus; and its good for him to go with a fresher brand....

Its the hissyfits from lewis and Alonso i wanna see! Bruised egos, hurt pride, interteam fighting. theyd never take each other out. Would be boring with vettel; hamilton or Alonso would beat him in the same team.

That's what i mean. All that drama... I'm not a fan of. Imagine if Lewis had tweeted Ferrari info..... Oh boy. Maybe if he did join, first meeting would be a screening of Goodfellas hehehehe that'll sort him :p

So yeah... Exciting for the fans; maybe a bit too much of a worry for the team.....

Just thinking about the energy drinks, they're like the new Tobacco sponsors aren't they? 20 years ago you had West, Marlboro, Mild Seven, Rothmans. Now you have:

Red Bull Racing - Red Bull
McLaren - Lucozade (through GSK)
Lotus - burn
Mercedes - Monster Energy
STR - Red Bull
Caterham - eq8

Is there anything else?

5 deaths from Monster Energy alone, which are minor sponsors of Mercedes arent they from le Brawn era.

Otherwise, in my opinion, we should have Alcohol sponsorship and Ciggerette sponsorship allowed. I mean I know theres the PC brigade and the imbeciles in this world, but I grew up watching Mild Seven Benetton then Renault. West/Johnny Walker/Diageo Mclaren, Marlboro/Martini Ferrari, Budweiser/fosters Williams, Becks Jaguar, Kingfisher/Whyte & Mckay/Vladivar Force India and yet, ive never touched a ciggerette in my life, and the only Alcohol i drink is spirits; I have Johnny Walker Black label from 2007 Mclaren edition from Spain and to me, its a collectors pieceson my shelf; unopened.

So advertising has REALLY made me a chain smoking alcoholic from the age of 11 because its on a car that goes round a track.

If you're talking quantity of sponsorship deals, then maybe. If your talking volume and prominence, then clearly not. I'd call them minor sponsors.

It's true there's never been any evidence to suggest tobacco sponsorship causes people to take up smoking. It was more about brand loyalty.

He knows that. They have Lucozade but he's pretty sure Coca Cola will be with Mclaren
