2013 Formula One Discussion
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
So then everyone, answer me this. Whose line-up looks weaker, Marussia or Caterham?
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Marussia.
Pic has experienced, as does Van der Garde (albeit not too much F1).

Theyre having a shoot out between Bianchi and Rossiter. I mean, Rossiter? Jeez not heard James' name in a long time!Kevin Clark wrote:Ah hadn't seen that.
So Bianchi then?
Id say Caterham have the better drivers and the better car. Marussia's gain on KERS will be useful, but I still see Caterham as the better team to advance the package they have.
If Caterham had Kovalainen, Marussia would have no chance. Just sayin'.

I agree.mikhailv wrote:Marussia's gain on KERS will be useful, but I still see Caterham as the better team to advance the package they have.

It's all very well having a lot of money to spend but you need to know how to spend it. Someone of Heikki's experience can give them much better feedback on what is right and wrong about the overall package they have. I think it was a mistake not to keep him.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
They're not having a shootout. Rossiter is their simulator driver and they want some correlation between that and the actual track.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Maybe Caterham is such a broke team that Giedo was the best compromise. He knows the team and brings money. When the money runs out he is out, unless of course he turns out to be something magnificent and a better team grabs him. His last change to make it into F1 since he is already 27.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
I still feel cheated by Caterham. I always thought out of the new teams, they were the most competant. They took Trulli and Kovalainen, and the team benefitted hugely. When they got rid of Trulli, I didnt really like it. Caterham werent winning races, so why didnt they just continually keep Kovy and Jarno to move the team forward?
Thats what Redbull did with Coulthard. He basically built the foundations and direction with Webber. Id've loved to have seen Coulthard racing that RB in 2009. Wouldve been a truly great bow out.
But yeah. It actually angers me when you watch that review on Skysports F1 on caterham; Petrov and Kovalainen working their arses off continually making sure the team is 10th, both going on about how they hope they are kept on, seeing a slight resignation on Kovalainen and Petrov's faces at the end of brazil thinking 'we got 10th, that should be enough'. instead, they ditch both of them. Utter arseholes.
Its a shame they didnt know the future, I wouldve actually loved it if knowing they arent being kept, petrov decided not to overtake Pic, meaning at least Glock might've kept his drive. We all thought that Petrov, Kovalainen and Glock relied on their team getting 10th to keep them on. instead they just ditch Kovy/Petrov anyway. And for making me bitter towards them, i hope they fail miserably. if they wanted to be taken seriously, at least 2 of the 3 should still be in F1. I hope Marussia get 10th this year to spite Caterham, and I hope Pic gets picked up into Sauber or something.

Sad news.
BBC are reporting David Coulthard's sister has died

The Daily Mail are saying a heart attack at only 35 years old.

Some great comments here from Jarno Trulli. I don't agree with everything about manufacturers, but he's right on a lot of stuff

Great interview! Saying some things others are probably too afraid to say or they just don't want to do it because of their own interests.

Monster at Heart!
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Trulli and Glock left on their own accord. it was the old Montoya trick; 'leave on your own accord or be sacked'. Though I wouldnt be miserable leaving a caterham or Marussia though.
I wonder who he things is worthy drivers though? Clearly it has to be Vettel, Alonso, Hamilton, Button, Raikkonen and webber. Id go as far as to say..... Perez, Rosberg, Hulkenberg and Grosjean should be. Massa too. The rest?

I think drivers have always and will always bring money. Pay-drivers should be judged on results. Someone like Maldonado got to F1 thanks to money - although a GP2 title helped - but he justified this through his victory and other strong races.
