Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
I still really can't see Hamilton anywhere else, it's a bit like Wenger and Ferguson leaving their clubs to manage another...

So if Hamilton is going to Mercedes and Schumacher remains in F1 for at least 2013 (seems likely) will Rosberg go to McLaren?
Schumacher and Hamilton in one team? That would be nice!

I've only just realised that the latest episode of Tooned has a comment, 'You know Lewis, sometimes you have to think your way around a problem'
Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
That's what I was thinking as well. Honestly, if Hamilton leaves then the next best thing would obviously be Raikkönen even if they had to bust him out of his Lotus contract.iceman1 wrote:No Kimi Raikkonen?
Yet, as unlikely as this is in the first place, you'd have to wonder if Kimi was even willing to go back to McLaren with a bunch of sponsorship commitments waiting for him there.

Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
Lewis is out of a doubt the fastest driver in the grid, i hope he can have a great set for next year, just like he has one now...
Pure talent and great character!

It seems that Bild - and they are usually correct - is reporting that Mercedes want to give Schumacher a one year extension. The sticking point is that he wants a two year contract.

Bild isn't usually correct They also said in November 2011 that Schumacher extented his contract until 2013.phil1993 wrote:It seems that Bild - and they are usually correct - is reporting that Mercedes want to give Schumacher a one year extension. I agree with some of that.Kevin Eason @easonF1
For those asking, just would like Lewis to sto telling people he is a victim. He is 27, one if the world's fastest drivers, worth £50m and being fought over for a £60m contract. He has won a world champ amd 20 GPs. Stop being so bloody self absorbed and get on with it
I'd also add that there's been a lot of comment about "Brand Hamilton" and XIX is keen to exploit this. I'd argue that Lewis needs a better public personality if he is to achieve this. I don't think that his Twitter personality is indicative of what he is actually like. This is a huge part of how he comes across now. If XIX can sort that out, he'd have a better representation.
Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
Kovalainen told Hamilton to stay at Mclaren "If I was him, I would stay there. McLaren is a great, great team and every year they are there or thereabouts and if they have some difficulties they are able to come back".
And that's why you left them right?

Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
Eddie Jordan has had a starring role in the 2013 'silly season', recently predicting with confidence that a retiring Michael Schumacher is set to be replaced by Lewis Hamilton.
But where did that Mercedes scoop come from? "Bernie (Ecclestone) told me," German reports on Thursday quote the former F1 team boss and now TV pundit as saying.
Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
I am listening to Hamilton's interview from today. A French journalist asked him what is the main advantage do you have over your competitors to win the championship, he said "my team".

Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
Im torn. If he stays at mclaren.... I dont think its good in the long run.
I think mercedes, he could mould into his own team, have a 2nd driver in rosberg, hes got a semi-dream team behind the scenes. I think he could make the difference at Mercedes, I really do. But he needs to commit and he needs to be dedicated. Im not sure he could do that with Brand hamilton and his star studded outside F1 life.
But, It would be good to see him leave Mclaren. i believe he is like Alonso; he needs a team solely around him, and love him and put him as 1st driver. I do feel sometimes, Whitmarsh prefers Button. But then, lewis has had some twatty outbursts and the twitter thing was just ridiculous.
I still say, lewis' best year was 2007. I think, slowly, he has declined from then. I know, he won the WDC in 2008, and he's had some awsome performances, but I just dont think mentality and consistency is there that was in 2007, arguably, consistence was given because a constant problem with the two Michelin nurtured drivers, and Massa wasnt on their levels.
Either road, I believe Mercedes would be a great change for lewis. Staying in one team for almost your entire career isnt always healthy. Most world champions have benefitted from good and bad experiences in different teams.
