2012-13 Silly Season
Re: 2012-13 Silly Season
Exactly. Lotus will keep both Kimi and Romain. I'm convinced 2013 is a problem for Ferrari - they need a driver for a single season, but no-one except Massa would commit to a deal like that.
Re: 2012-13 Silly Season
Well he was a decent number 2 for Massa so why not sign him as Alonso's...
Sutil might commit to a 1 year deal, but I doubt Ferrari would want Sutil.
Fisichella?

I hope he stays at Lotus, I don't see a reason why he would go back again. But it'll be interesting to see Alonso/Raikkonen in the same team.
I heard that Alonso wants Vettel in Ferrari so he can destroy him

However, the biggest stumbling block at any deal happening is believed to be the strained relationship between Raikkonen and Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo, who parted their previous working partnership on far from good terms.
Insiders suggest that di Montezemolo is not convinced about the Raikkonen route – while the driver himself has said in private that he too would be reluctant to work with his former boss again.

No, give Badoer a second chance!
I think that Ferrari are looking for a great driver who will always finish right behind Alonso without actually ever being able to beat him. I doubt this kind of a mythical creature exists, especially in a tight field like this year. Timo Glock would be my favourite for the job - surely being number two at Ferrari would be preferable to his current situation... Or just keep Massa for one more season.

Re: 2012-13 Silly Season
So, everyone seems to expect a Vettel move to Ferrari in 2014. Not unlikely, but let's remember that Alonso admitted that he has a say in the nomination of his teammate. And we don't have to argue about the fact that Alonso wants his racing teams to be his own, that's when he brings his best performance.phil1993 wrote:Exactly. Lotus will keep both Kimi and Romain. Adding to that Vettel has said recently that he doesn't know if driver parity would be assured if he went to Ferrari with Alonso still there.
On the other hand, if Vettel really wants to go to Ferrari sooner than later, he has to put up with it, since Alonso is staying at Ferrari at least until 2016.
Re: 2012-13 Silly Season
It's pretty interesting which are the names that have begun to talk about this rumour in Hungary. I would think somebody in Ferrari has really named Räikkönen.
Anyway, as Autosport says there are two problems: Montezemolo and Räikkönen, if none of them is interested, the team can wish what they want, it won't happen.
Ferrari seems to have some problems to find a driver, though. Who would have thought it!
EDIT: Räikkönen's ego must have increased a lot with these rumours. It's always an honour when the people you have previously worked with think highly about you.

Interesting that Ferrari dont think Perez or Grosjean would be any better than Massa. Got to be PR speak. Unless they truly believe that Alonso is Jesus in spanish disguise.
Its tough really because who is there to fill that place? Perez would be really good. Would be nice to have Kimi back. Always wanted the two 'heirs to schumacher' in one team. Would be formiddable and there wouldnt be any problems between the two. Kimi likes to just come, get the car and go, Alonso would be the one who stays back 25/7 a week basically. It could be a great partnership. But LDM and Kimi dont get along anymore. Shame.
Still want Hamilton to partner Alonso.

Re: 2012-13 Silly Season
Domenicali said to MTV3 that both drivers, Alonso and Raikkonen, have a lot of similarities.
Now they show the good profile of him"He never complained to the outside," said Domenicali, referring to Raikkonen, who left Ferrari at the end of 2009 and went rallying.
"He could have easily said that this is not the kind of car (in 2009) that I need to achieve my goals, but he remained calm and supported the team.
"I think it was important," he added. "He was always trying to push the team and maximise everything."
Re: 2012-13 Silly Season
I thought it was that Ferrari didn't listen to Kimi in 2009. The mechanics were astonished with what he did at Spa, and then they asked him why he didn't tell them sooner, he said 'I did, you didn't listen' or something along those lines.
Kimi was given some short shrift from Ferrari in the middle of 2008, he didn't like the understeery nature of the F2008 at all.

Re: 2012-13 Silly Season
I thought it was he told them once and they did nothing. Then after Massa's accident they asked him again and it was then they said why didn't he tell them sooner etc.
If they didn't listen to Kimi / focussed on Massa in 2009 I'm not sure it would be any different this time round with Alonso.
He's made some dubious claims from 'sources' in the past but...

I wonder if Kovalainen might be up for a one year deal at Ferrari if he feels Caterham aren't improving sufficiently. He's past 30 now and may feel even if he's only at Ferrari for one year it might get him properly noticed.

Re: 2012-13 Silly Season
It would just be totally awesome, right? Given that driver parity would be assured, of course. Which, let's be honest, Ferrari isn't known for. And it'll probably never happen anyway.mikhailv wrote:Interesting that Ferrari dont think Perez or Grosjean would be any better than Massa. Got to be PR speak. But the prospect of Vettel/Alonso is nearly as exciting. Just the thought of two world champions who probably belong to the greatest of their generation, battling it out in a top team, is staggering.

How about Schumacher? Every single driver is related to a seat at Ferrari, so why not Schumacher?donald29 wrote:I thought it was he told them once and they did nothing. Then after Massa's accident they asked him again and it was then they said why didn't he tell them sooner etc.

Well they are really. Barrichello was very rarely a match for Schuey.MavF1 wrote:It would just be totally awesome, right? Given that driver parity would be assured, of course. Kimi got favour over massa due to results, but lest we forget Massa got favour over Kimi in 2008 due to results. It was Massa who gave up a home win in 2007 so kimi can secure the title, but Kimi gave up 2nd place to felipe so he could remain securely in the hunt of the WDC in China 2008.
So really there is parity. 2010 there was parity; Ferrari never asked Felipe to move over for Alonso in Australia or Malaysia. Germany, he was miles behind Alonso, and look what happened; he nearly had the WDC.
Ferrari do have an equal policy, and they would easily handle Hamilton and Alonso. no driver is bigger than the team at ferrari, but at Mclaren i believe that a driver can be the whole team when ron run the team.
Re: 2012-13 Silly Season
This might well be the definition of 'silly' season but it was a very good weekend from Bruno Senna.
I'd hate to link someone with Ferrari off the back of one good weekend but F1 Racing said Ferrari contacted Maldonado after Spain... So could Senna drive for Ferrari in 2013? Brazil is a big market for FIAT / Ferrari and Senna already has Santader sponsorship. I wonder if Santander will have any influence on who partners Alonso.
