Not up there with the other teams I listed.

I wouldn't be surprised to see one of Alonso or Massa knocked out in Q2 in Melbourne because it's so competitive. There's a video on the Sky F1 website of Brundle saying the teams don't really know where they are as it's so close. They have all the data, but it's so close and there's a margin of error so they just can't say.

From Autosport live:
16:32 Lots of Lotus guests here today. They'll be happy.

So, Romain made a fast lap on fumes and soft tyres to make sponsors happy :D

mmm they were struggling with harder compounds last year and now it's the other way round?

Could be just the track temperature. The situation can change to better in Melbourne and there is still two days to learn the car.

I sure hope so. If Ferrari don't give Fernando a car that is a match to the McLaren this season, not the Red Bull, just the McLaren, then I don't think he'll be too pleased...

Alonso is the right man, but at the wrong time.

Grosjean got the top time and a promising race simulation

Turun Sanomat 2.3.2012 18:52:29.

Kimi Raikkonen came conveniently to Catalonia Grand Prix pit to talk with engineers, while his team-mate Romain Grosjean blasted again the top time of the day.

Grosjean did his time on soft tyres.

More convincing, however, was a good Grand Prix simulation. The French pilot drove the length of the three-stop race using two soft and one hard sets of tyres.

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso's race length was much tricky, even if he did not even use hard tyres, which will be used in the race at Barcelona. Alonso's lap times quickly collapsed and Ferrari got more to think about while the first race is approaching.

In Toro Rosso Jean-Eric Vergne, who made the top time of the morning, was unable to drive more than a few laps in the afternoon, because the engine broke down in the morning. In the result list he was on the second place, half a second behind Grosjean. The third was Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel who completed 85 laps.

Heikki Kovalainen was fifth in the result list. Caterham's Finn drove 104 laps and will continue to work on Saturday.

Could be in wrong team at the current time. Ferrari has hired so many key people that results may come as late as next year. In 2013 he could be the right man on the right team at the right time. This year is still a question mark and things can change during the season.

Grosjean was convinced: The problem no longer bothers Lotus

Published on 03.02.2012 20:05 (updated 20:06)

Kimi Räikkönen's team mate Romain Grosjean was convinced in Barcelona this week test that Lotus has solved the problem which spoiled last week's test.

Last week a defect in mounting of the front suspension of the car occurred, but Grosjean was never concerned that the same problem would struck again.

- Racing driver does not think that way. We are perhaps a little crazy in that respect. When I get into the car, I'm going to drive my stints. I know the team has done good job in changes of the chassis, and I had full confidence on the track, Grosjean said.

- We were doing checkouts throughout the day to ensure that the problem was not recurring. I am pleased to confirm that everything was all right, Grosjean said.

Grosjean touts the car for reacting predictably in all situations.

- The car has the same feeling as in Jerez. I can push it hard and trust the car and play with it, which is really enjoyable. If I push it a little too much, I know how it reacts.

Grosjean, who made the top time of Friday tests, expects great things from the coming season

- It's great to do the fastest time of the day, although it is always difficult to say where we are when compared to other teams. Our main goal is to do full test program in this week. All are working extremely hard for it. The atmosphere is great and all are working 100 per cent to get the best out of the package that we have. I am very proud to be a part of the team. I'm sure that we have great things in front of us in this season, Grosjean emphasizes.

Grosjean's the winter tests were completed on Friday, on Saturday and Sunday it is Räikkönen's turn to drive.
