Ted Kravitz has been in the pitlane and has this: “I’ve just been down to Ferrari to watch Felipe Massa to embark on his latest run and they say it was a set up change that was taking a while to complete and the car was in several pieces. One interesting thing I did see, though, was how difficult it is for the mechanics to fit these new ‘platypus’ or ‘stepped’ noses. I spied four mechanics having to hold the nose and front wing assembly up, which in itself suggests to me that the Ferrari has a lot of ballast in the front wing, while another two mechanics attached some wires that run from the inside of the nose to the bulkhead before screwing the whole nosecone on.

“All these set up changes might be progressing Ferrari’s knowledge of the car but it’s not achieving the 100 laps per day target Fernando Alonso set at the beginning of this week. But as Ross Brawn said earlier today ‘Ferrari are an awesome team. Once they get over their current teething problems then they’re likely to be back in the game’”.

Perhaps that is why McLaren didn't go for a stepped nose? They had to change Hamilton's nose a lot last season, would be too much effort for the mechanics every other race. :p

Mclaren is the only team to complete 100+ laps on all days of testing at Barcelona.

#Kamui stopped on track, it was another fuel run out (sorry for the red flag). Kamui did 143 laps today.

This is the 3rd or 4th time in 8 days of testing. No fuel

It's fine, there's no problem there.

Crash test failure forces Marussia to miss Barcelona test

Marussia has been forced to skip the forthcoming Barcelona test after the new car failed an FIA crash test.

It means that the team may end up going to Australia without running the car unless it can fit in a shakedown somewhere – and that is assuming that it eventually does pass the test in time to be able to compete in Melbourne.

The news comes as a big blow to Charles Pic, who needs all the mileage he can get.

A statement said: “The Marussia F1 Team is disappointed to confirm that the planned first test of its 2012 race car – the MR01 – has been delayed as a consequence of not passing the final FIA crash test.

“All cars are required to pass 18 FIA-observed tests for homologation to be granted. Despite the fact that the MR01 has passed all 17 of the preceding tests, the regulations require the car to have completed all of the tests before running commences.

“The team will now not take part in the final pre-season test in Barcelona later this week (1-4 March) and will instead focus its efforts on repeating the crash test at the end of the week.”

The rule explaining why they can't is ludicrously complicated and unnecessary

+ It means that Lotus can't get an extra day of testing. So basically they lost 4 days of running.

Williams did a total of 825 laps while Lotus did 411 laps only. They did more laps than 2 teams only: Marrusia and HRT.

"Please try again next year" :p
