2011-12 Silly Season
Re: 2011-12 Silly Season
Can anyone tell me what happened to Maria de Villota? she said the official announcement will be made after few days of the new year.
Re: 2011-12 Silly Season
Last news I can find in Spanish about her are from mid-December. There is nothing since then.iceman1 wrote:Can anyone tell me what happened to Maria de Villota? she said the official announcement will be made after few days of the new year.

But having Danica Patrick around is a huge step forward!!reppo wrote:I hope Rubens doesn't start thinking NASCAR. That would really be a step back. Though it is 90% ovals.

Yeah, but would it be any good for Rubes if she would not be at the top. Rubes would just be following Danica even at the back of the fieldfrubbs wrote:But having Danica Patrick around is a huge step forward!!reppo wrote:I hope Rubens doesn't start thinking NASCAR. Re: 2011-12 Silly Season
Williams would certainly need Ruben's experience. Maldonado and Senna can't alone develop the car as well. Has Frank even offered the job for him. Anyway I have been sensing that Rubens would be kind of reluctant to help Williams after being rejected by the team.frubbs wrote:IMO, he could try to stay in the staff of williams. Something like Michael was when he retired at ferrari.
But i think he didn´t even consider it.
He says he wants to race.
That said, Indy is one of the smallest steps back he could take.
Re: 2011-12 Silly Season
Hopefully this is not just an other silly season rumor:

Even if he is by STR standards a veteran driver with no bright future in F1 I feel that his best days could be coming. He was too young to come to F1 and directly from FR 3.5. Year or two in GP2 would have done good for him. It took almost two year to start show some improvements and he is still on the learning curve. Being only 21, younger than most drivers to start their F1 career, he has time and reserve driver seat at Mercedes would keep him in touch with F1.AS said the Abu Dhabi link could see Alguersuari, 21, line up as the official reserve driver for Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg this year.

Re: 2011-12 Silly Season
I'd be very surprised if Narain didn't race in India for HRT.

For Danica of course, eh?frubbs wrote:But having Danica Patrick around is a huge step forward!!reppo wrote:I hope Rubens doesn't start thinking NASCAR. That would really be a step back. Though it is 90% ovals.
F1 is very complicated.http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2012/01/31/tittle-tattle-from-the-f1-world/ wrote:The latest rumours from the F1 world suggest that Giedo Van der Garde is about to be named as the Caterham F1 Team test driver, unless Vitaly Petrov comes up with money to take over Jarno Trulli’s drive.

And the part of the story about the Opus Dei?iceman1 wrote:F1 is very complicated.http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2012/01/31/tittle-tattle-from-the-f1-world/ wrote:The latest rumours from the F1 world suggest that Giedo Van der Garde is about to be named as the Caterham F1 Team test driver, unless Vitaly Petrov comes up with money to take over Jarno Trulli’s drive.
Yeah, there are wipers since some time already about Agag and HRT, and those people are all involved with the Opus Dei or the Legion of Christ. But what is Saward suggesting, that the Opus is managing HRT? That doesn't make sense, there is no way the Opus would be able to do money from the team, and if there is no benefit...
Re: 2011-12 Silly Season
Joe is usually fairly good on the business side of F1; less so on the driver front..
One interesting point he's been writing about for a few months is Force India's financial situation and I believe he is correct for us to keep an eye on it this year.

Re: 2011-12 Silly Season
The stories about Force India and the money have already been weird the last couple of years. Was it last year when the German police seized Force India's motorhome during one of the races there?
Taking into consideration all the troubles Mallya is going through, yeah, I agree, it is worth to keep an eye on them this year.

But Opus Dei has so much to contribute to F1 - cilice belts and celibacy I think Banco Popular or Thesan Capital will sell the team to the highest bidder.Mar wrote:And the part of the story about the Opus Dei?iceman1 wrote:F1 is very complicated.http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2012/01/31/tittle-tattle-from-the-f1-world/ wrote:The latest rumours from the F1 world suggest that Giedo Van der Garde is about to be named as the Caterham F1 Team test driver, unless Vitaly Petrov comes up with money to take over Jarno Trulli’s drive.
