^ I find it sad rather than funny. I want more races and it's really embarrassing for a country like South Korea to fail to build a track.

This is actually a very good idea.

France is a traditional F1 and motorracing country, Magny Cours is a proven track and it's in Europe so that means 2 pm (1 pm for UK) starting time.

I respect Korea as a country, but so many races in asia these days..that really sucks. I would prefer to have more races in europe and the americas. Hopefully that Texas race will go ahead, great TV times in europe and the USA just belong into F1. A second race in Canada would be cool aswell, maybe a Toronto street race or something, they use it for Indycars already. And an argentine GP.

Drop China, Turkey, India and Korea.
Japan, Singapore, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Malaysia are enough races in asia.

Just one race in south america
and just 1 race i north america are not enough.

The track still looks a bit spartan to me...

Ok, the final layer of tarmac is down, but will it be sufficiently cured to withstand the force of 24 F1 cars with 2 tons of downforce and super sticky tires pummeling it for 2 hours?

yes, i agree with you. not only 2 hours, but for the entire race weekend.
FIA had stipulated 60 day requirement, there must have been some logic behind it. But if it works out, i hope it doesnt set a precedent, because all venues will start delaying it further and further, and causing more ffrustration to the teams, and even the spectators

FIA approves Korea circuit for inaugural race
Charlie Whiting on Tuesday gave Korea's new Formula One circuit the thumbs-up.

The leading FIA official had been at the Yeongam site since Monday for the track's final readiness inspection, amid speculation it was not ready for its inaugural event next weekend.

But, based on a media statement issued by race organisers KAVO, the major wire agencies AFP, AP and Reuters said Briton Whiting approved the circuit on Tuesday.

However, legitimate doubts remain, particularly after rain fell on the newly laid and curing top layer of racing asphalt overnight.

A photograph reportedly taken at the circuit on Monday show a bridge over the start-finish straight still under construction, while the circuit's main access road is apparently not yet sealed and the entire site not fully fenced.

But the main concern is the still 'sweating' track surface, with the process of oil seeping to the top unlikely to be passed by the time of the first action next Friday.

"I think we've already made the tyres, so we have to try," said Bridgestone's Hiroshi Yasukawa. "Our tyres are equal for everybody. At this stage, wait and see."
Bring it on

I'm glad. The somewhat unusual setting of a respectable start-finish straight leading onto a slow corner followed by an even longer straight should provide great opportunities for overtaking, and the rest of the track looks and feels quite decent (from what I've experienced in F1 2010). We should be in for some great racing, especially at such a critical point in the championship.

And to add to the excitement, I'll be over at my girlfriend's and probably won't get to see the race live. :<>:

Good news.
The circuit looks to be nearly ready, and the main issue being the 'sweating' which could make for some interesting moments if it causes a loss in grip.

As for the fact that the top layer of asphalt was only laid last week, teams say that this is not a concern in terms of track break up, but one engineer said that he would be concerned if it rains; with a new top layer apparently the oils will be close to the surface and this makes it almost undriveable in wet conditions. The teams experienced this phenomenon at a test in Portimao, in Portugal, when it was newly laid.
