Lotus to link-up with Toyota?

With Lotus Team Principal Tony Fernandes confirming on Thursday that his team will make some 'very exciting announcements' at the forthcoming Singapore Grand Prix next week, it has now emerged that might include some sort of technical collaboration with Toyota.

While precise details are sketchy, according to Autosprint, the deal has come together through chief technical officer, Mike Gascoyne, who of course worked for the Cologne-based operation from 2003-2006 - although he did not exactly leave on the best of terms.

It will mean that in addition to switching to Renault engines - something that has still to be officially confirmed - Lotus may utilise the expertise that went into creating the Toyota TF110.

The TF110 would have been raced this year, had the manufacturer not elected to quit the sport.

Hispania Racing, HRT F1, incidentally, have also been linked to a similar deal with Toyota in recent months, as the F1 rumour mill goes into overdrive in the countdown to the end of the season.

Any spy shots of the new McLaren yet????

I know it's probably too early, but I'd be very interested. Typically when McLaren is fighing for a championship, their car for the following year is lacking a bit relative to some of the others...
