There was an interesting article by Mark Hughes in Autosport this week, suggesting that Schumacher might decide to retire before the start of 2011 and take up an Ambassador style role. I think if the 2011 Mercedes is a pile of junk then he'll walk away; but if the car is capable of winning races then he'll definitely stick around. He really should have taken the Pirelli job I think!

i agree with both you and Harris. If the car is poor next year too, he will almost surely quit (even if he manages to be on par with Rosberg)

@ Legard : Hearing that Adrian Sutil is leading contender to replace Michael Schumacher at season's end if he leaves Mercedes. Sutil now out of contract at Force India.

Out of contract? Wow, I can hardly believe they haven't at least made a renewal offer. Sutil has been driving superbly this season, and with a strong midfield car, they've finally been able to reap the benefits of the previous years' hard work and tough times. I can only imagine he would want to move to a bigger team now that he's matured, in which case Mercedes would indeed be his best hope.

What will FI do if they don't keep Sutil? Surely Liuzzi's been underperforming this year, and I don't think they'll be too eager to renew his contract. Promote Paul di Resta maybe? Or maybe give a certain talented and likeable Indian driver a chance?

When you hear Legard say "I was talking to someone from Force India/HRT/Virgin this morning..." when commentating I often think: Who the hell would want to talk to him??? Does he talk to imaginary friends??? Ghosts from christmas past??? I swear most of his "Information" is incorrect or irrelevant anyway.

If I was an F1 employee I wouldn't want to talk to someone who's commentary makes me think of the noise vuvuzelas and vacuum cleaners make. And who's about to be sacked for being rubbish at his job. And in British sports commentary, you have to be truly terrible to get sacked.

Ecclestone wants to see Chandhok in a better car next year
“He really needs to be in a team where he can show his potential because I think he can be very, very good if he gets the right car.”
Probably Force India ?

Sutil is a rubbish driver. He didnt shine in 2008, he didnt shine in 2009 (he was beaten by fisico) and in 2010 he hasnt shone either.

Dont go onabout monaco and how he was took out by kimi, It was sutil who ruined kimi's race because sutil was in the wrong position and was about to get a penalty for overtaking 3 cars under yellow flags. Hes a c**p driver.

Sutil is definitely not better than Rosberg so why would they want Sutil to replace Schumacher? Mercedes didn't even want to pair Rosberg and Heidfeld together because neither of them was a race winner so why would a Rosberg-Sutil pairing would be any better than a Rosberg-Heidfeld or Rosberg-Schumacher pairing?

Okay thats an odd thing to say. I disagree with the Sutil-bashing actually. He's really impressed me this season now that he has a good car. He scored points a lot and is only 1 point behind Schumi. He's outclassed Liuzzi by a country mile. He isn't a complete driver - but I'd say he's easily good enough to drive for a properly good team. He needs to cut out the occasional mistake though.

i agree with you Phil, he should atleast be given the chance, he might not be the best, but he has done well enough this year to merit a better team

GP3 and F3 team Carlin have stepped up to GP2 and it is likely that Red Bull backed Daniel Ricciardo and Jean Eric Vergne will drive for them in GP2 in 2011.
