Most overrated drivers in F1 2009
Most overrated drivers in F1 2009
Well, the most overrated drivers? The ones that shouldnt really or dont really deserve to be there.
I think we'll limit this to 3 drivers

I think Button is a bit overrated as you look at his past few results, he was the new Schumacher at the beginning of the season but look at him now. I'm not saying he should not be in F1, because that's absolutely not the case!

Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button.
Re: Most overrated drivers in F1 2009
I put
Nakajima: Only there because of Toyota engines, and as much as I like the guy, he isn't F1 material
Fisichella: Just because he's tootling along, although he's loveable he doesnt have the hope of a WDC
Trulli: Again a likeable guy but he's just not up to it anymore really, not consistent enough

It's more the car than Button the one that is leading the Championship...joostlamers wrote:I think Button is a bit overrated as you look at his past few results, he was the new Schumacher at the beginning of the season but look at him now. Re: Most overrated drivers in F1 2009
Not really. A few are yeah, such as Damon Hill and Ralf Schumacher
But IMO now its harder for European drivers as although they are generally better, the best motorsport hope from a country such as UAE (Zuber), India (Chandhok), Russia (Petrov), Mexico (Perez) are being given $$$$$$$$ to further their career when they're not really good enough and because they have a good sponsor trying to get their country into F1 their skills are irrelevant unless they're completely hopeless.

Its clearly because of better infrastructure so i feel its easier for them than others .... and in the end money can't keep you in for long period.phil1993 wrote:But IMO now its harder for European drivers as although they are generally better

Yeah of course, European drivers have the stability in motorsport: Karting - F3 -WSR/Euroseries - GP2 - F1. I see what you mean but also you have to understand that some drivers only get into F1 because of money and I'm thankful that those days tend to be over and we have 20 brilliant drivers (when Massa is fit) in F1 for about the first time ever, really, anyone (well, 15 of them) could win.
Re: Most overrated drivers in F1 2009
i select
1)Nakajima because he has not done anything to prove that he deserves to stay in F1
2) Sutil-though he is in FI, he is lost his chances, some down to bad luck and his best races have usually been in the wet

Kazuki - Nice guy, no points, no good. Though he's not overrated he shouldn't be in F1.
Sutil - Heikki was quicker than Fisi than Sutil is so, with regret, his time is up.
Timo - Never impressed by him, thought he could never be more than a Blundellesque journeyman, but began to change my mind at the end of last year. However now I see that Jarno is simply better, so while he's not bad I can't seem him doing anything memorable, and hence he needs to go.

Re: Most overrated drivers in F1 2009
to be honest, which driver has actually done well this season?
Button won 6 races, but has faultered massively this year.
Lewis won one race thanks to KERS, akin to Kimi winning his race through kers. both have scored 2 or 3 podiums, but have been back enders for the other races.
Alonso has had a pole, and a second place in quali, but has fell back because the car is terrible, a pit mistake with the tyre cost him a podium in hungary, and fromt 15th to 3rd in spa, but once again, tyre problem caused by sutil i believe whacking his wheel, so he's had no luck.
Vettel is rubbish. I dont care what anyone says. Webber is doing rubbish. Barrichello has done some good performances, but still doing rubbish.
The title contenders are all basically above average drivers. None of them have exactly come through the field, none of them have outperformed their machinery, and if its not on key, they do very poor.
Toyota, is the same as ever. terrible, good, terrible, terrible each race. Williams, every talks about rosberg, but i have seen nothing impressive in the past 3 and a half seasons of him in F1. VERY overated.
Heikki has done some good drives, outperformed lewis in a bad car, underperformed in a decent car. Force india. Fisi did one good race. thats it.
Toro rosso isnt doing well with the two rookies.
Kamikazi nakajima isnt so banzai anymore, so thats good.
But yes, overall...... its been a naff year as of yet, because nobody has stood out. Kinda wonder if anyone even DESERVES the championship.
