Prospective Teams for the 2010 Season

Thanks to the Budget Cap planning to be imposed by the FIA, there are some serious teams suggesting that they want to be on the grid by 2010. One of them, being dubbed as USF1 but subject to change as USGP, has already started their activities. Two of them are the serious nominees for the alleged three new team licenses FIA has revealed:
The letter also reveals that the FIA intends to grant three new teams a place on the 2010 grid. Both Lola, which today announced that it is evaluating an F1 entry, and USF1 are among the teams who are likely to be in contention for the available slots.
Here are the prospective teams:

1. USF1 car ready by autumn '09
USF1 team principal Ken Anderson expects to have their first Formula One car built by this autumn and ready to take to the track for the first time when next season's winter testing ban is lifted in January. The former Ligier and Onyx technical director says the timescale of the team's entry to F1 will become more clear in the next month, but is confident that a January debut would be early enough for them to prepare for the beginning of the 2010 season.

2. Lola evaluating 2010 F1 return
British racing car manufacturer Lola is considering re-entering Formula 1 next year after confirming that it has committed to a full technical, operational and financial evaulation of the project. The Huntingdon-based company has a long history of building F1 cars and last appeared with a short-lived and unsuccessful works team at the start of the 1997 season.

3. Prodrive considering 2010 F1 entry
Prodrive boss David Richards says the British team is now seriously considering entering Formula 1 in 2010, if the rules are right. Prodrive, who was already granted the entry a couple of years back, was to become the 12th Formula 1 team at the start of the 2008 season, but the Banbury-based squad decided against joining the sport over the lack of transparency on the use of customers cars.

I think Lola will come back: They say they are very good at using the money very effectively... Plus Adam Carroll is already thinking ahead of driving in Formula 1, in a Lola:
Spoiler:
A1GP driver Adam Carroll is still hoping to become a Formula 1 driver one day. On Wednesday Lola Racing Cars has said they might want to enter the sport as of next season, which could be a perfect match for Carroll as Lola is owned by country fellow Martin Birrane.

Adam Caroll and Team Ireland is currently leading the A1GP championship ahead of next week's round at Brands Hatch. After bringing his A1GP season to a successful end Carroll eyes a role in Formula 1 next seeason. "I'm looking at my options for next year," Carroll told Irish newspaper The Independent. "This has been a great season, but I'm also looking at other opportunities and there may be options for me in F1, especially with new teams expected to come into the series."
Last time Lola were in F1 was in 1997, but then they were so slow, 5 seconds a lap slower then the driver one place ahead, this is a picture of their last F1 car, from that year: 1997 in Australia:

I hope that all 3 can enter. A 26 car field like in the old days, that would be absolutely perfect.

Plus it would make knockout qualifying much more interesting.

I'd rather have more competitive cars than just more backmarkers. Obviously if customer cars will be allowed, then the top teams could sell their cars, but then it would be boring if one team has basically 4 or 6 dominant cars on the grid. The current teams are just fine imo.

Dave Richards proposes a Prodrive entry under the "Aston Martin" name. That'd be seriously cool...

as Joostlamers posted a pic of Lola in 97 which i dun remember cause i only saw last gp of this season :P , look at them they have a "Ford" engine ... so their come back will be with a Cosworth engine alongside USGPE but what about Prodrive ? they were saying they wana buy Mercedes Chassis and engines and stuff and they couldn't join last season cause they were blocked because of this idea (Buying customer chassis) and we yet see STR has the same RBR Chassis and aerodynamics ... how'ever

i guess there are more teams that will knock the F1 door , more cars = more competition = more crashes and spins which i like and also not to forget some1 that will take Force India's place at the rear of the grid :P and why not add some spices to FI team and make them challenging those teams lol ... how'ever we will have new drivers as Lola said they are concerning an F1 entry again , Adam Caroll (Irish a1 gp driver) have declared he wants to join F1 and why not with Lola as the company owner is from the same country ... i guess its a good re-acceleration for F1

I can imagine that would be great for the British; then the Top Gear crew will be sitting in AM team shirts every tv-show

Hyundai in F1??? I haven't heard about this, and Hyundai being in F1 is a bit of a joke when their road cars are so cheap.

Hehe, if all teams would enter, which is nearly impossible,
we were in need of a pre qualifying like in the 80´s :)

with what has been going on with Brawn this year and the budget cap idea being tossed around expect even more companies to be trying to get into F1 next year
